RE: Aikido - The Art of Peace | A Short Introduction - Part 1

in #martial-arts6 years ago

Aikido will teach you how to use the force and aggression of an attacker and turn it against himself. The harder he attacks you, the harder he will be thrown to the ground or locked into a position where he can no longer cause harm

Such economy of movement from the Master in the video of the Aikido contest! This reminded me of a Chi demonstration video I watched, where the Master talks about using power/energy in pretty much the same manner. Incredible stuff!

My dear friend,
you are skipping ahead ahahahah. Will indeed mention this in this series as we get closer to the chi focus of the art, this video was waiting to be included here somewhere in this miniseries. There are some great clips of the old masters in the documentary I shared at the end of part 2, high quality recordings of some great aikido and sometimes even scenes where there is hardly any body contact at all. Of course they try to explain it all via body momentum, no mention of chi, but some movements are dead giveaways that something more profound is going on.

Seems like the natural progression to eventually be able to control chi flow without so much as touching each other, I agree it's absolutely mindblowing especially when viewed from a Western perspective.

Thanks so much for sharing though, I feel so connected to ya and we both picked up on this vid ;)
Much love brother <3

Haha.......oops :)

I'm watching the doc on part 2 now.........thanks for sharing all this fantastic stuff, your blog is becoming quite a Library of Light.

Thank you for all your attention, can't wait to meet you. Universe will chuckle when we do

Love the doc. Great approach: "Avoid Conflict & Never Attack First"
