I found myself unexpectedly in Newport, Rhode Island yesterday, having a spur-of-the-moment lunch with three friends of mine. So, the rest of the afternoon was spent meandering the seaside beauty of Aquidneck Island, where it is located, its yacht-filled harbor legendary. America’s Cup, the renowned annual sailing regatta has been hosted here in Newport. Sailing is a way of life.

Let's walk down these docks for a minute or two and go to town, to shop, to eat... to explore this beautiful little place called Newport.

Bowen's Wharf is a great way to see Newport, with the Marina right at the doorstep, you can hire a yacht or grab a lobster roll at one of the many restaurants located there. The shopping is plentiful. Indeed.

If you want to catch the local action, pull up a chair on the dock on Bowen's Wharf. I personally like to go to the Coffee Grinder. I am pretty sure that @coff33a would approve of this place! The beans are brewing right now and hello! The aroma is downright alluring to the senses.

If you feel the urge, you can charter one

I personally spent a little time checking out the different boats and found a couple that would fit me nicely. Okay, seriously, I would love any one of them!

I walked up and down the docks and caressed this beauty. Oh, I was in love, all over again. And the sails! The most magnificent sails!

And this one! What a unique history it has! It raced in the America's Cup.

What started out as a spontaneous meet-up with friends ended up to be an exciting adventure! Sometimes it is the unexpected, the out of character things in life that really imprint a memory. I am pretty sure this day will go up on my list.
