My first Half Marathon: Make Friends with the Pain

in #marathon7 years ago (edited)

Hello dear reader :), thank you for being here and reading my post.

I could not walk for two days after the half - marathon, but I could not stop smiling.
I could not stop smiling, because of the happy state I was at after accomplishing my dream.

This is the photo from the end of the race.

With my teammates from AIESEC team

The race started at 9 am in the center of Bucharest in May 2016.
On the seventh kilometer, my knew was injured and I was in a very very serious pain. If you ask me to describe from 1 to ten, i would say 8. For me that is too much, but the reason I did not stoop and pushed muself to go till the end of the race was him - my forever running partner, who believed in me so much more, than I did an dnot only in me finishing the race, but in my strenghts, in my dreams and goals in life and who always supported me.

Me and my friend, who I would call #support_system, decided to run and signed up together.
We made comitment and were training together for four months, for four very intense months, during which we had many moments and travels, that could influence on our schedule, but the committment was so strong, that we kept training even in the trips.

Pictures below from some places we traveled to and kept our training schedules:

In the south of Romania after the conference we attended

Long weekend training run near our house in Bucharest, Romania

Our regular training while we visited Chisinau, Moldova

Our training during the weekend trip to Brussles, Bulgium

All those memories just proves how people are important in our lives, they contribute to our development and they play so crutial roles and I am grateful for Michael, my support system for being there for me, for being so inspirational and amazing and believing in me in the hardest times.

I don't say I accomplish my first race, but we did it together and I would not have done if not for him.

Just thought of sharing this toniight, and cant thank you enough for driving me to share more and more

Thanks for reading,
Elvira
