My Churros Recipe

Ingredients and quantities used

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg
  • a pinch of salt
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

I also have

  • Oil to fry
  • Cinnamon and sugar to coat and
  • Strawberry syrup as dipping

My Step-by-step process of churros making

Step 1

1000149359.jpg1000149360.jpg

With my pot on the burner i poured a cup of water into it, covered it and allowed it to boil for a few minutes.

Step 2

While it boils, i added butter, salt, sugar and vanilla extract to it, and they all heated up together in the pot.

Step 3

At this next step, i added my all-purpose flour to the mixture, still on a very low heat and stirred so well until i got my dough separated from the bottom of the pot. I turned off the heat and allowed the dough to cool.

Step 4

I poured in my whisked egg, into the cooled dough and beat intensively until it became a softer dough.

Step 5

I got my piping bag with a star nozzle ready, filled it with the dough and refrigerated it for a few minutes

Step 6

1000149434.jpg1000149460.jpg1000149473.jpg

Its time to fry, i got my pot tied with a rope from one handle of the pot across the other handle, filled the pot with plenty of oil at a medium heat, when the oil got heated i began to press in the pipped dough into the oil. With the help of the rope, i cut the dough from the nozzle when it pushed out a strip to my desired length and fried it until it was golden brown.

Step 7
At this point, i was done frying. I coated the churros with my cinnamon and sugar and enjoyed them with my strawberry syrup dipping.

When you tried the churros, what was your experience like? Did you like them? Explain your answer in detail.

Making Churros was a fulfilling experience for me, i found every single process of making it interesting. The ingredients were all easy to get. I didn't find any step difficult being that it was my first time. I love the shape i got out of the nozzle i used and my Churros looked so inviting.

Although at some point i wondered what the taste would be like because awhile back i tried out a new recipe that didn't turn out exactly how i wanted the taste. But this time, I am happy when i tasted the final product of the Churros i made, both the taste and texture were enjoyable. Everyone around tasted it and complimented it.

I'm glad i participated in trying something new, the experience was refreshing and pleasing.

Is there a stand or business in your city that sells churros? Tell us.

No, it's not sold in my city. I have heard about it and seen them in movies, but Its not really common around here.

What type of dough would you like to learn for our challenge #3?

I would like to learn how to make pizza dough. Pizza is one of my kids favourite food, getting it from fast food is quite expensive, making it at home will make it more economical and hygienic to make it at home.
