General information:

Name: Hirunaka no Ryuusei (Daytime shooting star)

Author: Yamamori Mika

Genre: Comedy, Shoujo, School-life, Slice of life

Release: 2011

Status: Completed
Chapters: 78 chapters

Summary:

Suzume Yosano has lived deep in Japan's countryside all her life until she's forced to move to Tokyo to stay with her uncle. A new city, a new crowd, and a new tall, dark haired peculiar stranger that just happens to be her homeroom teacher...

Daytime Shooting Star is about a young girl's experience of the heartbeat of first love, and the agony of what comes after

My review:

1. The characters:

Yosano Suzume - The main heroine. She moved out of the countryside to stay with her uncle in Tokyo due to her father’s work. When she was lost on the way home, she suddenly saw a daytime shooting star. Suzume is always wanted to see it once again so she frequently skipped classes and went to the rooftop.

Shishio Satsuki - First main male character of the manga. He is Suzume's uncle friend and also her highschool teacher. He is her first love. He is really handsome and a typical "hot sensei" kind of person. He is a bit immature and playful when he's with Suzume.  He becomes irritated with and even physically violent to Mamura Daiki whenever Mamura points out how he is doing nothing but causing problems for Suzume.

Mamura Daiki- Suzume's classmate. He is Suzume's second and last love. He seems to be a cool guy, always with his headphones and very quiet to everything surrounding. He doesn't really like girls since he saw his mother had an affair with another man when he was a child. But, he is also shown to have a more mature side; he realizes that Suzume’s feelings aren’t for him (but for Shishio- the hot sensei <3)

This is my favourite male character of the manga. He has a huge fear of girls and however, Suzume made him changed his mind. He realized that she is not like the other girls who are all flirtatious and unfaithful. I like him and will always like him \(★ω★)/

Rating (for characters part): 9/10 - I like both of the main male characters and the heroine.

2. The art:

Amazing! ☆ ~('▽^人) All the characters are beautiful and the author seems really careful with all the little details.

Art rating: 8,5/10

3. The plot:

I must admit that the plot is a huge plus to the manga itself. It's just so creative and fresh, brand new ideas and concept. Firstly, it starts with Suzume (or Chunchun :'>), moved from her countryside to Tokyo with her uncle and a chain of events happened. She met Shishio when she first got lost and fell asleep at a random place, so he has to carry her home. She somehow fell in love with him before realized that he is her highschool teacher (reminder: teachers and students can't date each other). Their feelings for each other developed slowly since Shishio always be the one who motivated Suzume and be her shelter.

When she realized that her relationship with sensei won't be anything, Mamura walked slowly into her life and doesn't forget to bring her a whole freshly new feelings. He's a cute boy, his face can automatically becomes red when girls touched him. He first appeared to be really kakoi (cool) and soon we discovered that he's really shy amongst girls. I totally shipped this couple (just because that Mamura is so so so so so so so adorable), he changed himself, be more mature and try his best to get over his obsession (scared of girls since he found of his mom had an affair with another man when he was a little child) to has a chance to fall in love with Suzume.

There are so much cute and sad moments between them- the legendary love triangle. I really don't want to spoil, just check it yourself and you will know how great the plot is and how skillful the author is to handle that much situations reasonably!  (。•́︿•̀。)

Plot rating: 10/10

My thoughts on the manga + Overall:

There are so many mixed feelings when I read this manga. It's sweet, but also bitter and spice. There are some parts that you thought your heart was just broken because it's so so sad o(TヘTo) Also, regrets and regrets, they're everywhere in this manga. But I like how the author made our little girl- Suzume a.k.a Chunchun to grow up every single bits days after days when he first got her heart broken by sensei- and she finally gave a satisfactory decision - to love someone who deserves her the most and also, she deserves the most... (╥_╥) ( I wont spoil bleee)

This is the love triangle kind of manga, so you just take the risk- main male A or main male B, the heroine will only choose one and the other will be really sad, which leads to the sadness of his fans and those who shipped the couple together, too.

I really enjoy reading this manga, although it's so intense in every chapters and so so many heart-breaking moments, but the end satisfies me (It might because of the character I liked got chose by the main girl) !  (ง ื▿ ื)ว It totally worths all my time which is almost 2 nights, I really love the manga and probably re-read it as soon as I finished the manga I'm currently reading "Taiyou no ie".

In conclusion, this manga is super worth your time, it gave you so much emotions and when they're all sad, you're sad too. It's just awesome how the author can make us do such things, right? ╰(*´︶`*)╯♡

Overall rating: 9/10
