SLC S21W3 | Apply Your Eye Makeup Correctly To Highlight Your Look.
It's my first time applying makeup on my face, and I feel both excited and overwhelmed; at first, I was like, I don't think I can make it, but let me try anyway because there's no harm in trying. I see this course as a beautiful opportunity for me to enhance my features and express my creativity. I read this week's lesson and understand the techniques and products that can highlight my eyes as this is essential for me to achieve a polished look. I learned how to apply eyeliner and blend eyeshadows seamlessly, and each step transformed my appearance and boosted my confidence. Stay connected let me show you how I achieved the above look.
As seen in the lesson, you must do shading on both the upper and inner eyelid, with the three shades of your preference, and blend it as best as possible; In addition, explain and investigate a little about your eye types and what is the best way to enhance your look according to that type. |

As seen in the lesson, I first apply concealer foundation on my face and both the upper and inner eyelid, as this will help to bring out the eyeshadow well. Next, I chose three different shades: lighter on my fixed eyelid, for the mobile eyelid, I chose gold to highlight the colors, and lastly, I applied the darkest tone at the outer end of my eyes. This unified my 3 tones and created a beautiful gradient.
I've come to learn that I have an elongated or almond-shaped eye through this lesson.
Understanding Elongated Eyes:
Another name for elongated eyes is almond-shaped eyes; my type of eye is characterized by its tapered end, which creates an elongated look. My eye shape is striking and can be beautifully accentuated with the right makeup techniques.
Best Ways to Enhance Elongated Eyes:
(1) Eyeliner Techniques:
- it's better to make a flick at the outer corners as this will enhance the natural elongation of the eyes. I use liquid liner for precision.
- Tightlining: I apply eyeliner up to my upper lid waterline, and this makes my lashes look fuller without closing off my eye.
(2) Eyeshadow Application:
- Gradient or Ombre Effect: I use lighter shades on my inner corners and gradually darker shades towards the outer corners. This particular technique really enhanced my eye shape and dimension. As our teacher @almacaridad rightly said; my type of eyes is giving!
- Highlighter: I applied a shimmering highlighter on the inner corners of my eyes to brighten it.
(3) Mascara:
- I use black mascara to emphasize the natural shape of my outer lashes, which makes it to be more elongated.
(4) Eyebrow Shaping:
- I groomed my eyebrows well; slightly curved brows framed my elongated eyes beautifully. In order to maintain a balanced look I make sure that the curve is not too high.
(5) Avoiding Too Much Eyeshadow:
- As you can see, I avoid heavy or dark eyeshadows across my entire lid because it can make my eyes appear smaller. So I aim at subtle blending.
Frequency and Maintenance:
People with almond-shaped eyes can maintain a vibrant look in their eyes by cleaning their makeup tools regularly and by paying attention to their skincare. Yeah, proper hygiene will prevent our eyes from getting irritated, thus enhancing our appearance.
I believe that if everyone with elongated eyes follows these techniques, then they can enhance their God-given beauty and create stunning looks that highlight our beautiful and unique eye shape.
For this answer, you will have to draw the eyeliner on your eyes in the same way as shown in practice so that it is precise and enhances your look; tell us about your experience and if this step was too difficult for you. |

First, I drew out a line from my upper outer lid, and then I joined the line from the line that divides my upper lid from the inner lid. Since my eyes are elongated, I drew the eyeliner from my inner corner to join, and lastly, I applied very light on my lower lid too.
Ha, I must confess it was both challenging and thrilling, haha. Imagine me praying that I should make it at first because I didn't want to spoil all my makeup. As I picked up my eyeliner, my hands were shaky with anticipation; I struggled to get a perfect line at first, so I used wipe to slightly clean it up, and then I told myself, Goodybest you got this; I tried the second time, then I somewhat tried to get a decent line. Haha😂
Goodness I felt that achieving a perfect wing was like an elusive dream! Each attempt required patience and careful concentration. Well, I'm determined to learn, and I will get that perfect wing one day. Right? Honestly, my reflection showed a touch of excitement and frustration haha😂 a reminder that practice makes perfect!
Well, despite the difficulties I faced at first, I was happy and empowered to achieve a decent look I'm proud of in the end. My experience taught me that beauty routine often comes with a learning curve, isn't it? But I tell you that the satisfaction I got from learning this new skill makes it worthwhile.
Explain which mascara brush best suits your needs and why; also, tell us if you use the eyelash curler or on the contrary, if you glue false lashes, either in dots or in runs. |
---|
Choosing the right mascara brush depends on our different specific needs and the look we want to achieve with our lashes. I opted for a cone shape mascara brush:
Cone-shaped mascara Brush
- It is good For: Lengthening and separating eye lashes.
- Why: The tapered end will help me to reach shorter lashes in the inner corners of my eyes &, ensuring a more defined look without clumping.
My Experience with an Eyelash Curler:
I never used an eye curler before, and I don't feel comfortable trying it. I prefer using only mascara to it.
Flase lashes:
Sincerely, I love using false lashes occasionally and a strip (run) one in particular. I prefer this type to the dot one and eye curler because it normally gives me a more dramatic effect and is easier to apply, though I have never tried it by myself before. Someone usually fixes it for me, and it often gives me a bold look.
For this contest, I only use mascara, no false eyelashes, and no application of eye curler. But the truth is that any of these two, be it eye curler or false lashes, enhances our natural lashes, in conjunction with a suitable mascara brush and the volume, length, and definition we are looking for.
Research and explain what is the best way to clean and wash our implements and how often it should be done to avoid future skin problems. 01 point |

As I mentioned in the introduction paragraph, it's my first time getting makeup tools, so I've researched the best way to clean and wash my tools, which includes brushes, applicators, and sponges, and I found out that I have to use a combination of gentle cleansers and appropriate techniques. Here are some steps:
Best Cleaning Method:
(1) - I can use mild soap or brush cleaners like baby shampoo to clean them.
- I can use olive oil for stubborn makeup residues.
(2) Cleaning Process:
For Brushes: I can use lukewarm water to wash it, applying a little amount of soap or brush cleaner on it. Cleaning the surface to create lather. *
then rinse it thoroughly until it's clear, Squeeze out the water and reshape the bristles and keep it on a towel to dry.
- For Sponges:
- I will first thoroughly wet it, then apply liquid soap or a special sponge cleanser.
- Squeeze and rub the sponge as this will allow cleanser to penetrate and break down all the makeup residuals.
- Rinse the sponge under running water, continuing to squeeze until the water runs clear.
- Keep the sponge on a clean surface to air dry completely.
- Disposables:
- To maintain hygiene disposable applicators should be discarded after use.
Frequency of Cleaning:
Daily: Sponges (like foundation and concealer tools) should be cleaned after each use to prevent bacteria buildup.
Weekly: All makeup brushes should at least be cleaned weekly to remove makeup residues and any bacterial building up.
Monthly: should consider cleaning and disinfecting all tools monthly to ensure maximum hygiene.
Avoiding Skin Problems:
Cleaning our makeup tools daily will minimize the risk of skin issues like breakouts, irritation, and infections. Bacteria and leftover product residue can irritate our skin and cause clogged por,es, lead; asto acne or ,other skin makeups. So it's better we keep our toils clean for healthier skin and better mamakeuppplication.
