MADmusings #3: Thirsty Thursdays & Wine Wonders…
Following on from 'WagWed', I had a couple more Steemy evenings this week, so here's a little snapshot of how I roll in this dear ol' city…

Thursday is always a classic in Madrid (and probably many places in the world) for various activity and events to get in amongst. I think as it's almost the weekend but not quite the weekend then it's always a good day for various meetups. There are several intercambios (languages exchanges) going on which I sometimes join, although not this week.
This Thursday, I went to the Madrid Blogger Network meetup which is a monthly event at a bar in the Chueca neighbourhood, called La Piscine. Not before a quick stop off though, a new tool in my arsenal - L'Artisan!
The Art of L'Artisan!
Mentioned in the blogger group by a local blogger and author for a little 'pregame' I thought I'd check it out. It's a mix of Japanese and French cuisine… but not a fusion! This is from the website:
L’Artisan Furansu Kitchen creates memorable cuisine by merging the discipline of traditional Japanese cooking with the flair of contemporary French cuisine. L’Artisan does not fuse, but understands that both culinary traditions work alongside harmoniously to offer an unforgettable dining experience.

Okey doke. Either way, the food was a delight. They've just started doing free tapas on a Thursday (in addition to their regular dining activity) so go check out if you're in the vicinity (central), 7-11pm every Thursday for their 'afterwork' extravaganza! €2.90 for a beer and some tasty tapa treats… and you may even see me there!
Getting Bloggy…
So that brings me on to the blogger event. Most months there's a talk along with some mingling. No speaker this month, so a feedback session. We broke into groups and critiqued each other's sites.
Some great people as ever, and inspiring minds. Always good to hang out with cool people working on their dreams.
Next month, we're on the subject of photography, should be interesting and I'll try and make it along.
This pic isn't actually from this month's event, as I'm not sure if there are any… but this is a little peek at a previous meetup with Cepee, the organiser, in white (check out her Wanderlicious blog if you're in to plant based living) and Daniel on the nearside, the guy who suggested going to L'Artisan! The important point here is my silly head worming its way into the shot ;)
Won Wine?
And what of the Saturday shenanigans? Well, it's safe to say the ol' vino did flow. A friend's birthday, he had a joint bash with another chap at a great wine place, called The One Wine, in the Malasaña area of Madrid.
He uses it regularly (more of a connoisseur than I!) but this was my first time there. A delightful place and some fine wines. I have to say I was quite surprised at the strength of some of these; 2 of the red wines I looked at the label of were 14% and 14.5%, respectively.
Wowsers. Surprising I don't have a hangover. Oh wait, I think that might be a hefty Red banging on my head as I type.
A couple of offenders!
And here I am (right) with one of the birthday boys and a couple of other characters at the party

In other news, I ordered a ukulele online (along with a couple of books; need to flesh out the book shelf… a downside of having a Kindle), so that will be winging its way to me in a few days and could provide us all with a little entertainment…
Have a great week! :)
