Pointing at other wrongdoing doesn't justify you doing wrong.

I keep getting this response.

'Everybody else says it's ok.'

'Lots of people are doing it.'

'It's just the way things are done here.'

To be clear, any rewards that you get for any reason other than creating 'good' content is reward pool rape.

The reward pool was intended to reward 'good' content creators.

Not to pay payrolls, not to be farmed by bots, not to be rented for a profit.

At least that was the rhetoric that I was given when I got here.

I was told that steem was not here to replace my job.

Now, I'm told to stfu because nobody likes having their wrongdoing pointed out to them?

Nearly all of us start out with less than .1mv.

17451 posts in the last 12 hours were in this category.

They were rewarded for their efforts with 9.19% of the reward pool.

456 posts got 29.85%  of the reward pool for users with more than 10mv.

I'm looking for a source, or the code to pull the numbers myself, that can tell me how much of that was given by accounts with more than 80mv.

What would the whale experiment give back to the little guys?

How much do the large delegations suck out of the reward pool?

If we want folks across the world to adopt steem as their preferred currency we have to do more than reward the sycophants of the whales, there aren't enough whales to vote on everybody.

It's just a fact in the math.

Have a perfectly peaceful day.

While i do not like the selling of votes and rented SP, I quite like the idea of being able to provide income without burning capital. Seems like the plan to me. How else can we get people to lobby all levels of govt, report on court room proceedings etc ...

If those people are putting out good content, they only have to build followings and the rewards will follow.

Steem is a great platform, except that the top is sucking up the rewards to the disadvantage of the little guys.
If we want steem to be a currency used by a large percentage of the world, we have to appeal to the little folks, not just the whale speculators.

All sp holders receive interest from the inflation.
Making steem appealing as a currency to small investors will drive the price to equilibrium, once there, the large investors can pull out with their profits.
But, if they don't excite the little guys enough to invest small amounts then they will be lucky to get out with any profit, at all.

In time enough honest folk will clean the platform up I would hope. As the minnows of today become the whales of tomorrow will we put up with this malarkey going forward, I for one wont. why would we if we are reliant on decent content for profit let others cheat?
There will be some entertaining flag wars coming in the future that's my prophecy & from the chaos that it creates will come order.
Order from chaos a tried & tested world beater lol

In time enough honest folk will clean the platform up I would hope.

It is certainly better than when it started, then, with the n2 reward curve, the minnows were irrelevant in the math, so it has improved.

I think as long as the squeaky wheels continue to squeak we will get some grease, at some point.

Solidarity is our best tool, as long as the minnows stick together we got hope.

I'm glad to see you freely expressing the somewhat sad, truth regarding the direction steemit has headed with 'allowing' reward pool rape. Though I am usually opposed to 'too' much 'rule' by a handful of individuals, by having steemit founders and their appointees ignore abuse of their creation, it raises many questions...

Freeborn; you raise some very good points particularly in regard to potential 'new' investors considering a monetary stake in steem...then choosing not to invest for reasons you point out. New users to this platform, though not fully understanding the who, what, and hows, quickly begin to recognize steemit's 'ugly' side...(uncontrolled greed, seekers of simple wealth building having their way with the 'underlings'...) Sounds too much like 'mob' rule, rather than ruled by the masses...

Being new here, I did not expect to reach a multitude of 'real' followers quickly; but I did sort of expect less bot raping, spam, scams and cons of every description...There appears to be a lot less protective measures being employed in defense of the 'lambs' so to speak. The wolf pack seems to be having their way...

Nuff said...my 'rant' has ended for the day. Regards @angryman (solutions will come through users like you; hopefully)

I have been beating this drum since a couple weeks after I got here in '16.
Since then, all the moves by stinc, et al, have to been to enhance the experience for the large investors.

That is fine, if all they want is a billionaires boys club, but if they truly want to change the world, they can't do that by doing what is done in the broader world, favoring large investors.

Beating this drum must be helping, some, at least, the hardfucks have stopped coming so quickly.

When they made delegation a thing curation awards all got sucked to the top.
Before that the large investors had to loan out their keys to allow use of their sp, after, the large sucking sound of minnow value going to the top was deafening.

It would be even worse if the 75% of the sp that doesn't vote did vote, so at lease we have that,...

Glad to see you back, Angryman!

Thank you. Regards @angryman

Very passionate and informative. I recently saw a contest with a similar situation going on, along with acooment that said something along the lines of "you can lower the rewards and keep some earnings for yourself, for your time. Everyone does it!" And I agree, contest holders deserve a piece of the pie but not the majority of it. We like and resteem to largen the reward pool but if it isn't going towards the quality content created and contest winners, what is it for? "Eat the rich, they taste like chicken."

I think the rich eat us here.

Those vote selling bots only make the rich richer and poor run on treadmills.

Welcome to steem,...

Bring back the whale experiment?

Yes.
At 80mv, ~40k sp.

If folks want to speculate on crypto in amounts more than 100k usd let them, but when they suck all the rewards to their favorites they make steem unattractive to small investors.

Why would I invest in steem when all the rewards go to the large accounts?
Why join a currency that will funnel rewards to somebody other than yourself?

I got an itch and only more cowbell will scratch it!!

i don't see how it can work anymore.

I've seen whales censor anything they want, and overcoming it is very hard. (try and talk sense to bernie or haejin.. be downvoted, and possibly have your content downvoted just for spite)

I see it could work if we had a penalty for revenge voting.

but that would require a group, like the steemcleaners, to verify a claim of improper use. then we'd need a group to watch the watchers.. lol.

but in the end, i don't see the whales being benevolent as we'd like (tho some are.)

and the allowance of bots... didn't it clearly state no bots when i signed up?

and what is with people have multiple accounts.. again, doesn't make sense to me for a platform like this.

Well, 75% of sp that could vote, doesn't.
So a large number of the whales are on the right side.

Until we get more folks here, more sp in their hands, and a way to organize them, this is what we get.

Steem is what the users make of it, it's not easy herding cats, or anarchists.

I think this time next year I may not have to make these kinds of posts, anymore.

There's always going to be bad actors, the point is to make sure bad behavior isn't rampant or blatant.
