Journey to the Forth Quadrant

My Name is Derrick Mkandla and I spent 25 years working as an Engineer in the automobile and aerospace industries in the UK.

After all those years of corporate life, I had enough of the daily grind of being tied to a job, working to make others rich whilst my freedom was deferred to the promise of a pension at the universal retirement age of around 65. I wanted the time and financial freedom to live life on my terms NOW! so I decided to start my own online business.

After several tough years learning the ropes of how to make money on the internet, during which I spent a vast amount of money, and time, on various courses and shiny objects, I finally arrived at a simple 3-Step formula for making money online that generates multiple streams of income. The beauty of this system is that it costs so little to get started, even a broke person can do it. However, simple does not mean easy. It still requires hard work and dedication to succeed.

It is my firm belief that each of us exists to be of service to our fellow Human Beings and one of the ways we do this is by sharing the knowledge each of us gains through our individual experiences.

It is in this spirit that I am happy to share what I have learned during my Internet Marketing journey, in the hope that it may be of some benefit to others. Whether you are new to the exciting world of Online Marketing, or you are an experienced practitioner who perhaps has not had the results you have been looking for through your online endeavors, it is my purpose in these pages to:

1. prove to you that it is indeed possible for anyone to make money on the internet, even if you have very little money to begin with, and,

2. shed light on the methods that have enable me, and many others, to build a sustainable online business that eventually leads to more money, time and location freedom

Passion for Self-Development

I also have a passion for Self-Development and, as such, I run a personal blog, DuckboardsAndStils.com, in which I share a unique blend of Internet Marketing and Self-Improvement information on various topics, including, Health & Fitness, Inspirational, Make Money Online, Relationships and Stress Free Living.

Designing Your Own Lifestyle

Now, the idea of designing your own lifestyle may seem somewhat far-fetched, but it basically means being able to live life on your terms, which, as I indicated at the top of this page, was my biggest motivation for starting my online business. Living life on your terms simply means having the freedom to work when you want and the ability to earn more and travel when you choose to.

In seeking to achieve this goal of complete time, money and location freedom, I took inspiration from three excellent and very influential authors.

The first is Tim Ferris, who, through his excellent book, The 4 Hour Workweek, first awakened me to the possibility of living life on my terms by ditching what he calls the “deferred-life plan.” The “deferred-life plan” refers to what you might describe as the normal path of life, whereby one works hard to hold down a “good” job, hopefully for a lifetime, whilst looking forward to enjoying retirement at the tender age of around 65 years. In his book, Tim Ferris introduces the concept of Lifestyle Design, which he defines as ditching the deferred-life plan and instead creating a luxury lifestyle in the present. I shall say more about lifestyle design in other posts on the platform, so stay tuned if the subject is of interest you.

The second person who influenced my thinking was JD DeBolt, a former USA Navy Pilot turned Business and Life Coach. In his book Flight Plan to Success, JT Debolt introduced me to the idea of The Life GPS, which you can use as a navigation tool to reach your life goals, just as a normal GPS is used by pilots or motorists to navigate to a physical destination.

My third influencer was Robert Kiyosaki, an Educational Entrepreneur, who is best known as the author of Rich Dad, Poor Dad, the number one selling book on personal finance. A picture paints a thousand words and the following representation of Robert Kiyosaki’s Cash Flow Quadrant, crystalizes everything and at once conveys everything about my purpose and the journey on which I am embarked.

The Cashflow Quadrant is, in fact, a way of categorizing people into four groups, according to how they earn their income. The diagram below shows how each quadrant or group is respectively represented by the letters E, S, B and I, where E stands for Employee, S represents people that are Self-Employed, B is for Business owners and I stands for Investors.

Now, although it is possible for people in each group to earn a great deal of money, it is only the people in the third and fourth quadrants, that is the B and I groups on the right side of the Cashflow Quadrant, who are truly free because these people are, in the main, not tied down by their jobs. Their assets work to earn income for them even when they are not present, as compared with the employee or self-employed groups who generally have to be present at their job of work in order to get paid. The vast majority of people are in the E and S categories on the left side of the Cashflow Quadrant and if you are one of those people and you want true financial freedom, then your Goal should be to move yourself to the Business Owner or Investor groups on the right side of the Cashflow Quadrant.

I am, therefore, embarked on an exciting journey to the right side of the Cashflow Quadrant, a journey on which I invite you to join me. And the vehicle I have created to achieve this is the My Online Income Academy (MOIA) Flight Plan to Freedom. The purpose of the MOIA My Flight Plan to Freedom is to give to as many people as possible the means to live life on their terms by helping them move from the left to the right side of the Cashflow Quadrant.

Finally, if indeed you are new to the world of internet marketing, or you have some experience but you have not yet seen the fruits of your labor online, then I want to dispel any doubts you may have about whether you can do this. Bear in mind that every successful entrepreneur started off exactly where you are today and the beauty of the internet is that it has created a level playing field where anyone, regardless of age, gender, color or creed, can use the internet to their immense benefit. Modern internet technologies make it easy for anyone to set up sales funnels and your success will depend only on your willingness to learn, how well you take action and your determination to succeed.

You must also understand that this is not a push button, get rich quick scheme. Building a successful internet business requires hard work and dedication. You have to be true to yourself and be prepared to put in the work and be in it for the long haul. However, the beautiful part is, once you have done the hard work of learning and understanding the marketing process, it becomes easier and you will be set to achieve the financial freedom that will allow you to live life on your terms.
