Good insight. Yes, he is playing with fire and he shouldn't really push his girlfriend to the point where she wouldn't care anymore. There are some lines that should never be crossed, and he is crossing it yet he wants her to be cool with it, never!.

That is my fear. Once he push this lady to the wall, she might fight back and it won't be nice at all. She has been bottling so much in and she might just explode with devastating act.
