Evening stroll along the Victoria Promenade

in #love6 years ago

And just when I thought my life could not get any cooler we run into this gentleman this evening while our for our stroll...

Walter Bonaise. And who is Walter Bonaise...only one of the most influential people of all time from Edmonton and up for the "Order of Canada" award which is possibly the highest honour you can be given as a Canadian!!!

This is from his google info...

Walter spent several years travelling across Canada performing traditional Cree songs and dance, many of which originated with his great grandfather Chief Poundmaker and passed through generations, as well as his own creations.

An author and teacher, Walter’s book, Listening to Elders Telling Stories Sitting in a Circle, chronicles the oral teachings and wisdom he has absorbed and observed from elders, family and friends.

Walter has served as NAIT Elder in Residence since 2001, sharing cultural knowledge, providing spiritual guidance and mentoring First Nations and Métis students, as well as others.

Walter Bonaise is in attendance at the Encana Aboriginal Student Centre every Tuesday from 10 am to 2 pm from September to April.

So as we strolled along I thought to myself...yeah this is a VERY cool life indeed.

Now I need to get ready for Avi to get here to get me and we are heading off to meet Mike my lovely Lebanese friend from the Promenade for "a pint or two" at the hookah restaurant just up the street.walter_header.jpg
