Tips to staying happily married
I love my hubby but what keeps things fresh and positive in my household is listening. Have you ever really sat and looked into the eyes of your spouse and just listened to them? We all have things to say and the quietest people in the room are usually full of so much knowledge and vigor. Sometimes, we just don't stop for a minute and really listen.
Drop the phone, turn the volume off the t.v. , look directly at the person you love the most and listen. After 12 years, I am hearing the most beautiful things come out of my husbands' mouth. How much he loves me, his dreams and aspirations.
Everyday I wake up and ask him "Is there anything I can do for you today?" He usually says "just the regular stuff" and because I listen to him, I know what he is asking for.
I love finding new ways to create positive change in my marriage and in my other relationships. It works to listen intently to your kids too. Give them a voice and let them be heard.
It makes the day go so much smoother. Have a great marriage...and a great life!
And the most important one: "She's always right!" ;)
that's funny! I now admit that I am usually wrong...my husband looks shocked every time I say it!
That's odd. lol. With my wife, I constantly feel that there is no right answer for nothing. Even if I agree with her sometimes I see myself being judged. But I must give her a chance to rethink her position, especially now that she's pregnant with our first baby. Hormones!
Each woman is different and hormones are definitely a huge part of why women can be a little cranky. I suggest asking her everyday "what can I do to make your day a little better?" after doing it over and over, eventually, people soften up and realize that the person they love truly wants to make them happy and then they reciprocate...good luck and congratulations on the baby on the way.
This August we will celebrate our 36th anniversary -how can it possibly be that long?- You have given great advice. Bill and I get busy and I don't look deeply into his eyes enough! Gonna' do more of it now that you have brought it to my attention. Thank you!
