black boys... you are what you do...
Thoughts and troubling
We are what we do.... the brother said it best in the video. In order to be more we have to do more. More reading, studying, exploring ourselves as people- as humans. There is talk about what and if we can do anything about the rise in the crime rate in the inner cities. My city, Baltimore had one of the highest murder rate in history. And it easy to just write off the youth because we may be afraid of them…. But in the fear there should be understanding, there should be empathy before judgement. The youth want and need something more to do. No longer can we sit aside and think “I don’t know those niggas; they not my family.” This only serves to further exasperate the underlining issue: Hopelessness.
There are several ways one can help but the easiest and simplest is to show you care. Done close the door of your heart to the world right outside your doors. Instead let them in with kind words and love. Believe me they’ll know. It’s the small things that matter most…..
Love and be loved
