The strange thing about today was, all along this week I've been thinking I was missing something, that I had a gig I'd forgotten or something.
It wasn't me.
The AD at Laurel Grove had read her calendar wrong, and put someone else on the bulletin board and announced them over the intercom earlier.
When I showed up (with my friend Pat Thomas, helping with the move and the camera) she looked up, puzzled.
I said "By your expression, you weren't expecting me...don't you have some checks for me too?" (we had talked about that the last time I was there. They still owe me for Christmas Eve).
She went to look at her calendar, while I pulled up my invoice on my phone to show that I'd sent it, she'd viewed it...
In the end she realized it was her mistake, she called the other performer who said "no, you don't have me there today".
So, I got a late start setting up, but started on time. It was a smaller than normal audience, I think because of the mistaken announcement. (these people love me) but a large time was had by all.
