I'm a quarry addict, no doubt! :)

I can't remember the first time I visited a quarry but quarries were always around : there's one in my hometown and in the towns beside too.
I had no particular interest for it...until I started lightpainting. It's almost the perfect location to do it : total darkness, constant cool temperature, protection from wind/rain/snow, very nice stone, quietness... Especially when you're a rookie :) I discovered this world, step by step, with friends and I fell in love with limestone and achievements of quarrymen.

I do many other things in LP but this side has a special place. This is my "out of time" thing in the week, when I leave everything in my mind outside, I go deep beneath the surface and I really enjoy the present moment. It's my own way to pull the plug or something like that. This is a really important component of my creative process.

This is a fraction of what I made last night :

Lightpainting created in real time, captured to the camera in one single photographic frame.

No layers /no Photoshop / no editing exept minor adjustments (lens correction profite, WB, contrast (+12)) and addition of my logo.

Gear : Canon EOS 6D MkII body + Canon EF 16-35mm f/4L IS USM lens @16mm & f8 + Canon RC-E6 IR remote + Zomei carbon tripod.

Beautiful images! I've just began looking into LP and find this art form absolutely fascinating. I'm confined to film photography at present but still want to give this a go. I guess I've got to go find myself a quarry now...

Thanks! LP is very addictive, I'm one living proof of that :D
You can do analog LP, you'll get the surprise a bit after and discover if you put the correct settings...or not^^

No need to find a quarry (but it would be funnier) as you can explore every fields you have in mind. I live in the center of Paris and I enjoy to do street LP shots. You'll need a dark place for a start, when you'll get skills you'll be able to work in lighter and lighter locations.

I can't stop thinking about it already. I'm looking online for cheap light sources and trying to think of different ways to move the lights. Was thinking of heading to my local golf course where there is little light and putting strip lights on my bicycle while I ride around in front of the camera. I guess I'll get some funny looks from the late night dog walkers :D

No matter the light sources, everything could be useful. The way I see it, it's better to build your own but you can deal with lamps you'll find in the market.

No matter the location too : every place can be interesting as you see it in a cool creative way. At first try to pratice in really dark spots to have time to to tryouts.
Working with models/athletes/animals equiped with lights was always on my mind but I never had the opportunity to give it a try. There's so many trips to imagine :D

Thanks for the advice mate, I'll keep it all in mind and try put it to good practice soon.
