The Challenge That Taught Me A Lesson

I was a dedicated teacher for more than 16 years. Though I love what I'm doing, it wasn't at all easy. The more the educational system improves, the more work is given to teachers. Apart from the pressure given by the management, we also have to get by the day to day stress from the students and their parents.

So last year, I was given task at work to practice the students for a presentation. It was summer and we were outside enduring heat for about one to two hours and after that we go back in the classroom which is very cold because of the air conditioning.
I suffered from severe coughing and lasted for few weeks. When I couldn't take burden of the coughing which was causing me breathless and chest pain, I decided to go for a check up.
So in the tests, I was diagnosed of tuberculosis. I was shocked and scared. Though the government has free medication for it, I was still scared. The government has locked me in the hospital for more than a month. I have to take a leave from the school where I work until the end of the school year which is in June.

Staying in the hospital without seeing my daughter and husband felt so bad. Though I was totally feeling healthy during my hospital stay, my mental health was in danger. There were days when I felt like I'm not going to get out and wouldn't get back in the outside world and also fear of losing my job, since I was absent for long time. Also thought of the time to get medication for 6 months with regular checks in between.

Moving forward, I overcame those fears. I'm totally well now and thank God for it. The moral of the story is that we as human beings can only make plans for the future. But it is only God who knows what will happen. When a challenge comes to your life, there isn't anything you can do to but to face it even if it means you won't be able to do what you have already planned.

Right now, I'm back in my home country making more plans for the future. But this time, I always leave everything to God. Only He knows what's best for us. Jeremiah 29:11"For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and future. "
