THE PAIN OF DISCIPLINE

No one came to earth empty handed. God embedded certain kinds of talents and potentials in us and the moment we can dominate an area of the earth through those unique gifts and talents in fulfillment of his purpose, then can we experience true freedom. In dealing with the talents and responsibilities God has entrusted to us, we absolutely have to deal with the big D-Discipline because it is an integral part of God's testing program. Discipline is self imposed standards and restrictions motivated by a greater desire than the alternatives. Discipline is positive, not negative. God uses it to train you. True freedom is manifested in self discipline. A disciplined man is a free man, free in the sense that he is not bound by any form of hindrance in getting to his promised land. He has now taken responsibility for his life and is designing his destiny.
There are two kinds of pain of which everyone must deal with one in life, either in the now or in the future.
♦The pain of discipline
♦The pain of regret
When you refuse to pay the price of discipline at the right time, the pain of regret is inevitable. Discipline is one word people do not like to hear but it carries in it the DNA for success. It carries even more weight than knowledge, for knowledge that is not applied is a waste. Building discipline could be very hard but not impossible and this is where determination comes in. There are many areas of life in which discipline is required. Discipline begins in our mind, our personal lives, when no one is watching.
BENEFITS OF BEING DISCIPLINED
Discipline makes you manage your time wisely, helps you manage your relationships, helps you stick to your budget, stops you from living above your means, helps you save, makes you read even when you don't feel like it, prevents you from sleeping too much, makes you organize, makes you plan, makes you drop certain habits and so on.
All that I've mentioned above might seem so difficult to follow through but the pain involved is nothing compared to the pain of regret. Imagine being almost at the end of your life and wishing you'd done all the things you know you were supposed to do. Imagine standing before God and giving all sorts of excuses for not accomplishing your mission on earth, how flimsy those excuses woyld sound then.
Everything in life has been designed to release the hidden, trapped potential that God placed within you. If you skip classes in God's university of life, He'll keep taking you back to that point. This was the case of the Israelites on their way to the Promised Land, they kept failing their tests and many died on the wilderness. God can empower our minds, but we must empower our will. So it all rises and falls on your ability to endure the pain of discipline and attain true freedom for True freedom in itself is Self-Discipline.
