Chinese girl #4: How do girls live well in China?
Today is the tradition day of Qixi, it occurs every 7th day of the 7th month in the lunar calendar and is festival celebrated within the sphere of chinese cultural influence.
Like with other festivals in China, there is a story that accompanies this festival and it is a romantic one. It begins with a cowherd boy and weaving maid fairy 'Niu Lang' and 'Zhi nv'. Zhi nu fell in love with the Cowherd boy and came down from heaven to be with him. They married and had a boy and girl. To their dismay, the God of Heaven found out about their union and ordered the Queen Mother of the Heavens to break them up and bring the Weaver Maid back.
When the cowherd chased the weaver girl to heaven, the Queen Mother banished them both to opposites sides of the Silver River. Their love was so strong that tens of thousands of magpies came to build a bridge for them to meet each other. This moved the Queen mother and thus she allowed the Cowherd and Weaver maid to meet each year on the 7th of the 7th lunar month.
Other than being a festival for couples to celebrate and meet, it is also a day that singles will go look for their goddess. So, I'm going to recommend to everyone a few restaurants and lets see where all the beautiful girls are hiding?
This restaurant is called 'Li Yuan' and is a cantonese restaurant. The price is quite reasonable at around 300RMB per person. Before going, I had already made a reservation and I made sure to also reserve their special dish called 'Roast Duck Breast'.
I'd also like to recommend some of the restaurants delicacies incase you decide to visit. My personal favourite is the stir fried seasonal vegetables. Its not only fresh, but has a natural smell and is perfect for eating in the summer. Another top choice is the Roast duck skin, and roast duck breast. Both of which will require prior booking. To those who are more concious of their weight, and are perhaps on a diet, I recommend the Gui Fei soaked rice. It is soaked the juice of abalone and the taste is very fresh throughout. This restaurant opened in the World Trade Center and Wangfujing street, they primarily for working people, for example, the girls working in the financial company.
Around the central world trade centre, there is also 'Windsor KTV' which is one of the best luxury karaoke places in town. The environment is very classy, clean and the sound equipment is of high quality. Most importantly there are plenty of beautiful girls there at the weekends. With the karaoke and Li Yuan restaurant in the same building, you have perfect place to visit.
