I was lucky enough to work in an environment with strong leadership for a good many years. Thankfully they my formative years. Now I work in a world of managers and the difference in happiness and productivity is insane.

I wonder if bosses know but don't care, or if they are oblivious to the difference.
I think it is the latter. I perceive they don't seem to look externally for talent but promote from within and therefore regenerate the same thinking over and over.
