My First Steemit Post

in #life8 years ago (edited)

Today is September 11th and I just created my steemit account. One part of me want to start this off with telling the story of what I was doing on this day, 15 years ago. Another part slaps my cheek "No man you don't wanna set things off with one of the most tragic days in human history".

Maybe its right.

But I don't care at this moment. I just want to start.

I've always been the introverted kind of guy. And I always wanted to improve my writing.

So I'm not going to the let that part of me stop me from sharing whatever i feel sharing, at this moment.

Am I doing this correctly? Oh, that was not the real me, it was "that part".

Steven Pressfield calls it "The Resistance". It's the force that chokes creativity and entrepreneurship in its cradle.

Some call it the beast. Some the ego. It has many names. I will probably address it further in the future.

So what did I do on September 11th 2001?

I remember it as clearly as yesterday. I was in my early teens at the time, just came back from a day at school.

My dad was working from home that day, and was doing some ironing in front of the TV. I barely had time to take off my shoes before he called: "Son, They've bombed New York!!"

Who?

I don't know. Look!

Our old Telefunken thick TV showed a live stream from the Twin Towers. One of the towers were in flames, and TV reporters on the local news channel were running around like decapitated chickens. No that's not true, but that's how i remembered it.

Chaos. Shock. Focus. Why?

If you're a libertarian like me you've probably done the research and know exactly why it all happened. But I wont focus on the why today.

Dad was ironing the shirts with unusual engrossment today.

I hadn't put my back pack to the floor yet.

Live on the screen I could see the other plane hit the other tower. Boom.

I put my rucksack down and took a seat in the sofa.

What's going on dad? Why do they do this?

Good question..

After this the memory fades. Probably because you never remember sitting in front of the TV for hours.

I stopped watching TV 5 years ago.

I just sold it. I felt a bit bad actually. It was a gift from my family when I moved from my parents house.

Where's your TV?

Sold it..

You did what??!

I never used it.

But you can't be without a TV!

Well, actually I can.

September 11th shows the power and agenda setting the TV serves. It's called program for a reason.

I do admit that TV time has been replaced to a large part by computer time, but at least that is a more active. On the internet you can choose. The TV serves what others have already chosen for you.

I want choice.

Thank you for reading.

See you tomorrow.
