Child Trafficking Dangers and Effects
Child Trafficking
From Wikipedia:
Trafficking of children is another form of human trafficking and is defined as the "recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring, and receipt" of a child or children for the purpose of slavery, forced labor and exploitation.
As a child growing up here in Nigeria, we get to see lots of things especially those of us living in urban areas, you see these women called madams, owning five to ten slave kids and forcing them to do very annoying things like hawking at night, menial jobs and many more, the most annoying part of these things is, they collect the money these kids make from what they do, they don’t provide basic amenities like education, food and clothing for these kids all they do is house them and give them food that isn’t enough once in a day, while they make them enough money and eat so much that they fatten up like monsters.
I’ll be talking basically about the causes and possible solutions to child trafficking in our communities, I hope It reaches the right people…
Firstly
Causes
Some of the common factors that causes child trafficking are:
Poverty: this is one of the main cause of human trafficking, due to lack of employment parents ae unable to provide the basic needs for their children therefore giving them out to relatives or friends who are well-to-do and living in the city to help them take good care of them.
Oppression: this means the exercise of authority or power in a burdensome, cruel, or unjust manner. When people in higher positions take advantage of the poor by threatening their lives and forcing them to give out their children for trafficking.
Lack of respect for humanity
Effects
Psychological abuse
Trauma
Resentful towards other people
Fear of been unsafe or unprotected
Lack of trust in other people
Solutions
International action: a victim-centered human right approach to combating trafficking has been internationally renowned as the best possible strategy when addressing this issue, with recourse focusing on punishing the exploiter and rehabilitating the child, this action is taking place in us and some other countries. If this law can be enforced in Nigeria than there is assurance of eradication of child trafficking.
NGO initiative: many NGO’s have initiated movements focusing on informing the public on the dangers of giving away their children to wealthy people who come to rural areas to take away kids in the pretense of taking care of them but will end up using them to hawk on the street or using them for prostitution.

Selfvoting is prohibited, but that should be the reason to spread the world to protect our precious environment. Check out profile of our conservation association @kedjom-keku and the founder/coordinator @martin.mikes to get more information about our conservation program. My current SP is 14349.55.
