Should You Be Concerned For Gen Z? (from the view of a gen z-er)

in #life6 years ago

Every time I go to a mainstream news site, or even other adults, they all seem to convey the same sense of grave concern for gen z, or the "iGen." (horrible name by the way, 1/10 IGN) However, from my experience, I believe that at least half of their concerns are completely dogsh#t, and the rest are exaggerated. For starters, many believe that gen Z-ers are lazy and unmotivated. This belief falls under the category of dogsh#t. While some of the people I know are certainly lazy and unmotivated, the majority are not, and many are likely more motivated than generations past. We understand that we have to work harder, and many, like myself, are trying to build online businesses and brands. Now, while this is belief is dogsh#t, there is some truth to it. For many, it can be hard to balance real life and socials. I find myself having trouble with this. So, its not that we're unmotivated, we just have too many things to focus our motivation on. This same logic can be applied to our attention spans. Next up is the belief that all gen z-ers are narcissists. I believe this falls under the category of exaggerated. When I go onto Instagram, I find many of my peers playing a sort of appearance game. While this will likely go away once most of them reach their mid twenties, I do find this alarming. This could be an issue going forward, and may affect the happiness of gen z. While the solution to this is unclear, the problem isn't. All of our issues seem to stem for social media. However, many of our entrepreneurial qualities do as well. So, all hope is not lost. We simply need better education on how to handle social media and other real life issues.

Hello sirsardine! Welcome to Steemit! Hope you'll like the community here. As a start, here are 5 tips that we believe will be helpful to you:

  1. Keep your passwords safe: Unlike conventional sites, Steemit has 4 types of passwords. Each offers varying degrees of access to your account, so know where and when to use each of them. Also, make sure to keep them all safe and secure.
  2. Get Steem rewards: When writing a post, you'll have the option to choose how to receive your reward: "Default 50%/50%" or "Power Up 100%". As of this moment, choosing Default 50%/50% is the better option. But this can change over time. Check our post to know more.
  3. Upvote wisely: When upvoting, wait at least 30 minutes after the post is published to maximize your curation reward. Also, make sure not to upvote too much too fast so as not to drain your voting power.
  4. Know your Steem, Steem Dollars and Steem Power: Steem and Steem Dollars are the 2 main currencies here. Convert and power up more Steem into Steem Power so you can have higher values on your upvotes.
  5. Have Fun and Enjoy!
