Daily Reminder: Follow Your Heart

Hi Steemit friends! Today I wanted to share a video of self-expression and the story behind this song.

I arrived at the Beloved festival in Oregon last summer all alone, anticipating a weekend full of new friends and experiences. To my surprise, I was feeling a bit more socially awkward than I had anticipated, watching groups of old friends reunite and set up their epic campgrounds embedded with waves of laughter.

After some convincing, I made my way to the main stage and found a seat on a small hill where I could watch from a “safe” distance. Everything in me wanted to get up and dance, but somehow I felt too alone and shy to do so.

In an instant, everything came to life.

Amber Lily, an artist I knew of from my travels in Hawai’i, started to play her song, “Woman.” The moment I heard the lyrics along with her angelic voice graced by the heavens, I immediately took off my shoes, stripped off my sweater, and b-lined to the dance floor with no care in the world if anyone was watching.

Carriers of life, it’s our time to rise
Woman, I set you free. . .

The power and potency of her words rang so true to my core that nothing was going to stop me from expressing the bliss that it brought out it in me. So I danced, and moved, and laughed, and released into the magic.

And moments later. . . I met my Beloved, right there on the dance floor.

This is a daily reminder to always follow your heart, no matter what anyone else thinks. It will always lead you exactly where you need to be.
