My Indian sons and daughters will know that they can be president of USA if they want to. Even if there was no Indian man or woman president before them. I will teach them, that on their 35th Birthday, if they have been a US resident for 14 years, and they were born in US, that they can be the US President.

They’ll learn that they can be president even if major political parties refuse to support them, and major media companies refuse to cover them. They’ll learn they can talk to voters, directly, raise their own funds, write their own articles, build their own support. They’ll learn that voters can listen to them, and write in their name. If their ideas resonate with voters, and their name is selected more often in more states than any other candidate, they will be President.

They’ll also know, that it’s OK if they’re not president. They don’t have to be. Anyone can make an impact on the world. The local cop, firefighter, and EMT can save countless lives. Local mayor, congressmen, and governors can help shape many communities in a way no President ever can. The corporate CEO and small-business owner both have tremendous responsibility and effect on the well-being of their respective employees. The salaryman and wage-workers are both heavily relied on by their families. Both mothers and fathers are both essential to raising happy and healthy children. What would the president be without each of the citizens and residents and workers in his country?
He has the nuclear launch codes. But what’s a Commander in Chief with no military? Without people to follow him, a leader is useless.

My kids will know they can be President if they work for it. But they’ll know that presidency isn’t the goal. They can live happy, meaningful lives and help those they care for, without it.

Sort:

I would argue it would be much more beneficial to them to achieve happiness and meaning without resorting to using political force against other people. Ultimately, how we treat others in this world is the only meaningful currency; reputation is everything. That's why I argue against political entities and government in general. After all, the President can send people halfway across the world to kill people that have done nothing wrong; if you or I tried to do that, we'd be branded criminals.

Yeah, I absolutely understand the anarcho/libertarian perspective as well. It's part of how I found Steemit!
I'll be teaching that as well, and in the same spirit, I'll let them choose what power to wield. At the end of the day, its up to them what they choose to do with my perspective/teaching.

Well said, sir. I wish you the best of luck. :)
