Michael Connelly wins the 2018 Diamond Dagger
Congratulations to Michael Connelly on winning the Crime Writers Association 2018 Diamond Dagger award in the UK yesterday.
The highest honour in British crime writing, the Diamond Dagger recognises authors whose crime writing careers have been marked by sustained excellence, and who have made a significant contribution to the crime genre.
A former journalist, Michael Connelly’s first novel, The Black Echo, was published in 1992 and he has since written a further 30 novels and sold over 60 million books.
I was fortunate enough to meet and chat with Michael, who also happens to be my all time favourite crime writer, a couple of years ago at the Sydney Writers Festival. A fantastic writer and genuinely nice guy, he is a very well deserved winner of this prestigious award.
