The story of Valentine's Day

in #life7 years ago (edited)

Rome formerly was characterized as a warrior town, conquer territories and defend their city was very important to the Romans, so that meant having the best armies and the best soldiers. A Roman emperor forbade marriage between young men because men were better soldiers. A priest, named Valentin, opposed that order and began to secretly marry the lovers. When the emperor found out, he ordered Valentin to be murdered on February 14, 270, which is why Valentine's Day began to be celebrated ever since.
In the mid-1840s an American woman started selling romantic cards and gifts that day, which she sold for a few cents and became a success. This is how that tradition has remained to this day, in addition to paying tribute to that courageous priest is celebrated on the day of friendship. Cards, flowers, hugs are given, declarations of love are made and, in a few cases, commitments are ended.
Enjoy this day, give hugs and love to the people you love. Be happy and honor all beings who have been brave to defend love and freedom to love. Embrace your friends, your brothers and yourselves.
