I was lucky enough to learn this lesson as well while in the military. There was a stark contrast between those who truly knew how to lead and those who are just good at giving orders.
Just as you experienced the leader or "boss" has a big influence on those below them. I took that to heart and always made sure my subordinates knew their voice held just as much weight as mine and that no task was too shitty for me to do as well.
it makes all the difference, when i used to work with other people, i never struggled to get them to work, and it was because of this little lesson.
