LESSONS FROM HICHKI: NOT DEFEATED BY TOURETTE SYNDROME
It was an adventurous afternoon, hanging around with friends to hunt other friends in playing soccer. Most of them were busy so we finally settled at home to relax, and HICHKI took away those moments of relaxing. We couldn't resist watching. I will share with you summary of the movie in my own words and few lesson i learnt from it.
Hichki presents the story of a young and determined lady in the person of Ms. Naina Mathur(Rani Mukerji) who looked beyond her weakness and lived as nothing was wrong with her. She battled with Tourette Syndrome but being motivated by a teacher she pressed on to be the best of student she can be and later had an employment in the same school after being rejected 5 times and 18 times by other schools. She found herself in a world of unpredictable and recalcitrant students (9F class) made of 14 student on Right to Education program as their parent couldn't offer their tuition. It was a new level of unexpected adventure to meet fulfilling her passion and winning the attention of the students.
The 9A class and their tutor, Mr Waida undervalued them and always found fault with them to the point of advocating for their rustication on mutiple occasions. Ms Mathur finally prepared them through practical approaches and fun which caught the attention of her students to have reasons to learn. Strange enough fear and hatred couldn't live some of her students which caused them to explode the project led by 9A class to be presented at National Science Fest which they were already 2 times champions.
Love was showed by the whole class as they agreed to share in the blame of the explosion's cause. This led to their suspension from school until exam after Ms Arthur pleaded an outright rustication wouldn't be the best decision for the class. It was challenging for her anyway as she had already promised the headmaster of seeing 9F class climb to the top and win prefect badge which was always meant for 9A class. The class stood strong and apologized for their act and confess how hard they need her to not to give up. She manoeuvred her way out teach them whiles they were at home on suspension. To render their efforts futile a top student from 9A tried to trick the class with fake questions which he delivered through a worker at the school.
They stood for what was right and denied themselves of learning that. They sticked to what they have learnt surprisingly all the students passed the exam and amazingly Ms Onu, a 9F student became the top student in the school amidst the hyped 9A students.
Tourette Syndrome
A nervous system disorder involving repetitive movements or unwanted sounds. This syndrome is mainly characterised by uncontrolled behavioral and muscular movement. Most common symptoms you would see are unwanted sounds (tics), repeatedly blinking the eyes, shrugging shoulders or blurting out offensive words, difficulty with bodily movements, increased muscle activity, involuntary movements, involuntary muscle contraction, or jerking muscle spasms, coughing and stuttering.
LESSONS DRAWN FROM HICHKI
Source
In our weakness lies our strength. We just have to admit it and make living comfortable for ourselves. Ms Naina saw nothing wrong with her condition. She saw the uniqueness in her life and admitted that is normal living to her
The people you live to stand for in bad times will always be by you. Ms Naina had an audience of all her students during retirement ceremony. It was all full of joy and smiles
Believe in whatever you've purposed your.mind to do. She wanted to a teacher and she simply did it in a grand style. She had the chance to work at a bank but she denied it. Her condition and teaching had no relation but she trusted her intellects will make it possible.
Every human being is unique in his own way. 9F class was always undervalued, but in their deviant behavioral approaches to issues, their level of reasoning was awesome. They were spectacular. When you come by such a person, help in rightly channeling his energy for good other than criticizing. Ms Naina Discovered that was just the right thing to do.
You may be seen to be losing, but in reality after seeing your goals come through, you will know the real losers. Well they will join and share in your victory. Don't let them discourage you.
You can't all your fears within. You just have to let it out. Let the emotions flow and blow them all out. They will fly like paper planes in the air.

I have not heard of this film but the way you have reviewed it makes it one I would really like to see. I used to manage an employee who had Tourettes Syndrome and we have become very good friends. Nice post!

Sounds like a wonderful film @romeopensa I love the lessons you took away from it. Keep up the great work.
I haven't heard of this movie, but I'm thankful for your review. I will be looking into it and seeing how I can watch it. My son, who is 6, deals with tourettes due to his disorder, PANDAS. As a mom it can be stressful, especially when others don't understand what's going on. I resteemed in hopes others will see this as well! Thanks friend!
