That's right, the avocado, that exquisite flavor with its tender and creamy consistency that allows us to combine it with any food, should not really exist at all.

But before telling you why let’s see some facts about the avocado:

The avocado is fashionable

It has conquered distant lands in which until a few decades ago they had not even heard of them. Avocado consumption has grown exponentially in recent years.
Its flavor and nutritional properties have made it a fashionable food in developed countries.

Why avocado should not exist?

The avocado, like many other plants, depends on the animals eating all their fruit, going in another direction and then defecating the seed in a new place.

Except ... have you seen the size of an avocado seed?

In that sense, we can say that avocados evolved satisfactorily to be eaten by giant mammals and, through them, thrive in various places of the American continent.
Once there were huge animals, like giant terrestrial mammoths and sloths, that could devour them at will, but all those creatures became extinct about 13,000 years ago, and nothing was left big enough to do that job.

It is what is known as an "evolutionary anachronism".

Anachronism: A thing belonging or appropriate to a period other than that in which it exists.

Despite the disappearance of its giant dispersers thousands of years ago, the avocado continued to grow. However, for science it remains an enigma that avocado still exists in nature
The most reasonable hypothesis so far is based on the work of man with this fruit. Once Homo sapiens evolved to the point of cultivating the species, the avocado had the opportunity to thrive again. Through cultivation, humans have multiplied avocados to feed us.
No one is sure how the avocados managed to stay alive until humans started planting them. But one thing is sure, Avocado has conquered the world and is changing from being a fashion to being an essential part of our diet.
