El Tri still can't get past the round of 16. Perhaps Mexico should consider itself lucky that it made it out of the group stage after an epic collapse against Sweden in which it lost 3-0, but a 2-0 loss to Brazil means that once against Mexico will fall just short of a quarterfinal appearance.

It was an impressive showing for Mexico despite losing their last two matches by a combined five goals. They took down the defending world champions in Germany in the opening match and then picked up another win over South Korea. Now, the team will look to the future in 2022 where it will likely feature a few different faces.
