My volunteering experience part2

in #life7 years ago (edited)

Why I wanted so badly to enroll and volunteer for this? Sometimes, even myself I ask this question. I believe I have this eager to do something, to give back, only because I feel I have lost too much time dealing with unnecessary concerns, I lost my way, I got distracted for a long time. For many years, when i remember, i realize that I made a huge mistake and I regret the wasted time. I regret so badly, while people where building themselves and creating new things, I was busy caring for the wrong person, and focusing on only one person, and forgot about myself, forgot about who I am. I threw away everything i have done, all what I built and achieved and got back to zero.
How could this make you feel if you were in my shoes? Guilt ? Regret ? Or fear to start over?
But I said it was never too late, and started from all over, from the very beginning step. My exchange program in the US was actually the wake up call. I kept telling myself those 5 weeks: "Racha, what have you done?"
The wake up crush was so painful. Bur I woke up, which is great.
It is an incredible competition, I know how this could help thousands of girls around the world. It is becoming now very big, it is now in more than 78 countries around the world, with more than 15000 girls participants. It is the first time in Thailand, I have the big chance to start it and I am doing my very best to do so.
The program is called Technovation Challenge. It aims to offer girls around the world the opportunity to learn the necessary skills to become tech entrepreneurs and leaders. Technovation allows girls between 10 to 18 years old to learn to identify a problem in their community and create a mobile app solution to address that problem, and then learn how to communicate these ideas and translate them into a fully launched business.
Do you understand now why I love this !! Let's imagine together, you reach for example 10 girls, (trust me, you reach much more, but let's keep it 10 only for the example) , in the future, each girl will be able to reach out 5 other girls and boys (or more), those five will also be able to reach out other kids ...etc. This is big, with this free competition, we allow many girls to have access to technologies and tools. With this challenge, we allow those girls to be future leaders and entrepreneurs. Every child has right to education, every child has the right to learn; this is what I want to achieve, this is our mission.
You may ask, why girls only ? I guess it is simple to guess the answer, the gap in the STEM fields between men and women is still large, we want to close it.
I will share with you some links so that you can check out a little bit on the challenge. Why not sharing it with your sisters, or nieces, you definitely might have an ambassador in your region. Give them the opportunity to learn and build something.

Never regret things that you have done in the past. If you lost few years that's nothing comparing to whole life and it's perfectly normal to stagnate with progress from time to time. Also, every mistake that is made only makes us wiser and stronger. We are not our mistakes, we are all wisdom that we collect from them. I'm happy for you that you learned something from them and come back stronger than ever! i'm truly and honestly glad to hear that you break through it and that you are now doing what you love.

It's amazing what you doing here, simply inspiring. You are making me think about my life as well. Maybe I got some time to spear around and help those in need. I volunteered two times in my life as well. First, I was helping poor people by bringing them food and clothes. Afterwards, I was helping kids that didn't have parents and lived in a dormitory. It was a good time. Maybe I can do it again sometimes. :)

It is very inspiring and encouraging, thank you. And i think you should keep volunteering, volunteering brings a lot of feeling, positive, and make you realize the treasures you have. I wish you can share in the future what you have done.
