Cinema News: "The Shape of Water"
Yesterday I saw the "The Shape of Water", I share my impressions.
Guillermo del Toro, after all, is one of the main visionary storytellers of modern cinema! Do not even think, fairy tales have only recently become purely children's literature, many classic works of this genre had to be censored so that they could be read without danger to the kids. So killing, violence and blood do not betray the fabulous mood of the movie!)
It seems to me that the vision of the director was largely influenced by his childhood, you understand this by reading his biography. Through the films del Toro you feel that in their creator there is some sincere immediacy, a pure, kind heart, in other words, he is like a big child, equally impressionable, fiercely believing in monsters. On his monsters, Guillermo always looks with admiration and without fear, and the most terrible creatures in his films are people.
"The Shape of Water" - a rethinking of the cult horror of 1954 "Creation from the Black Lagoon". Guillermo was so impressed by the monster from this film that he wanted to make his version of the development of events, where the love story will take the main plan.
"The Shape of Water" is a story about piercing love and loneliness. All heroes are immersed in indifference and alienation from the surrounding society, perhaps del Toro feels like one of them.
All their ideas, whether they are costumes, make-up or characters, Guillermo sketches in a notebook that he always carries with him.
Costumes heroes engaged in the artist Luis Sequeira, and the creation of an amphibian - the designer Mike Hill. About how the images of heroes were created, we will tell you next time.

Nice. I plan on seeing this movie soon... didn't even realize it's a remake of an older one. You must really like Del Toro!
