Keep the Change
I believe that if you're not changing, you're doing something wrong. I believe that to live your life in monotony is to let your dreams die. To surrender to doing things the way they have always been done is to surrender yourself and everything you stand for. Even when what you stand for changes too.
Change by definition is simply a shift to something different. Change isn't always great, but it supersedes staying the same. Change -no matter what it is- is a step into the unknown.
In businesses, change management specialists & companies are becoming more and more popular. People are looking for the best way to master change and those who embrace it are often cited for their bravery & great character.
My entire high school career has been about change. All kinds of changes. I grew out of split leg jeans & making flower crowns & grandpa sweaters. I changed my friend group so many times I thought I would get whiplash. I was so determined to find a group of people who would love & support me unconditionally. And ironically it took enough change for me to realize that most of these people had been there along.
When my parents told me they were moving I had to make my decision on whether to stay in NJ or move to Las Vegas I felt the ground beneath me shake. This change was forced upon me, but I embraced the challenge and the chance to try something new. From that the strength for many more changes grew as I quit marching band, & participated more in DECA & made friends at my job. I thought I was going to be alone after my parents left & I quit band. It was everything I had ever known, everything I thought I wanted. This life was by no means perfect, but it was comfortable & I was scared to find what makes me truly happy.
I was so terrified of being alone but I've never l felt more surrounded by love in my entire life. I don't have all the answers, but I know that I believe in change. I know that I'm going to change my mind a thousand times. And it's okay, as long as I keep trying to do what's right for myself and those around me- regardless of what it may be.
