The Universe - 4/365 to Change my Life

Today I reflected a lot on yesterday, as I do often. I wanted to share a story about yesterday that got to me all day, even when I KNOW it shouldn't. On Instagram, one of my favorite Youtube influencers posted a caption alongside a photo wondering if it was just a coincidence that the current struggles they are experiencing happened, so that something better could be presented. I assumed this meant things were looking up and I shared some of my own beliefs in the comments.

My belief is that the universe gives us hardships to teach us the lessons we need to learn in order to align with our best selves and create our best lives. The universe will give this lesson to us as many times as it is needed in order to be learned and realized as a valuable experience. I do think this is why some people can be in a constant rut or always seem to have something bad happening to them, they haven't learned the lesson. This is why I believe it is SO important to view everything with a creator attitude and look at what is in your control. Instead of letting life happen to us and wondering why, why why do all the bad things happen to me. Never regret anything, no matter how awful, because the universe will always give us what we need, even if it is unfortunate in the moment.

That was the jist of it, really my intention was to imply that to me, it is never a 'coincidence', it is part of your life purpose. I realize people have differing beliefs and maybe I shouldn't of shared mine on her page. It was meant to be a message of compassion to maybe give hope to a bad situation, that their purpose is growing and "everything happens for a reason" kind of jazz. Apparently this triggered some feels in them and I got a very backhanded reply. They clearly did not agree with my belief (fine by me) but the one comment within the reply really fucked with me yesterday. I quote "I wish I were privileged enough to say that I brought being in a tough upbringing upon myself".

First things first, I was shocked, I started reading my comment over and over, was I offensive? Do I sound too pretentious or did it seem like I was saying "you did this to yourself"? Whatever, I talked myself out of caring and continued about my day. The one line kept nagging at me though, I found myself thinking, fuck that, they don't know anything I've ever gone through. I'm not privileged, I've been through tough times, I found myself justifying my hardships to myself. I realized throughout the evening and day today, that I think I AM privileged.

I say this because I HAVE been through hardships, I don't need to advertise the ways my world has crumbled and been rebuilt. All I know is that I have obviously been through enough to open my eyes. I feel truly blessed that the terrible things I have endured have aided me in becoming who I am today and my constant strive for improvement. Not because I deserved these horrible things, but I obviously needed them. I did spend my days wondering why it was me, why bad things always seemed to happen to me. Had my world not fallen apart, would I have ever woken up? I thank the universe and I truly do feel privileged to have experienced that awakening. So at the end of the day, I suppose they were right, however to me it is no longer an insult. I shall take it as a fucking compliment.

Talk soon,
Xo
