LIFE IN A HYDERABAD METRO! Hyderabad Metro Rail is now second largest metro network in the country!
HYDERABAD the capital of the newly formed state of TELANGANA in south INDIA has now got Metro rail.
Metro rail was one of the most talked about topic by the first time formed ruling state government.(TELANGANA RASHTRA SAMITHI). This metro was a private-public partnership with the government holding a minority equity share. The project was constructed by L&T(LARSEN AND TURBO). The new government had promised the people a convenient, traffic less means of transport THE METRO.The first metro was inaugurated by the PRIME MINISTER of INDIA ; MR.NARENDAR MODI , on the 28th of NOVEMBER 2017.This metro had the longest stretch of 30kms (MIYAPUR-NAGOLE)in INDIA.
The moment you climb the stairs which are connected from both the sides of the road. You are supposed to take a ticket to travel in a metro which are being given in the form of coins. There are even cards available for frequent travelers. The price of the tickets are quiet reasonable..and the same for children and adults. I took a ticket from MOOSARAMBAGH -PUNJAGUTTA a journey of almost 12KMS.(travelling in an LB NAGAR-MIYAPUR metro).
The cost of the ticket was Rs:40. I had to swipe the coin to enter the automated doors with checking done separately for males and females. My purse had to pass through the scanner on the other side..this proves that security of the passenger is being given importance.Reading the sign boards we headed towards the escalator to board our metro, the
sign boards are quiet easy to figure out.
The moment we reached up the timer showed the arrival of the metro in 10 seconds and it was there on dot time.Highly appreciating because in a city of hyderabad(city of nawabs) you rarely find people, things and events happening on time.
We entered the metro it has a separate ladies compartment and queue ,an A/C coach ,highlighted clearly in pink as LADIES ONLY. with neat ambiance and announcements made in three different languages (hindi, english and telugu) which makes it easy for the travelers to understand. There were almost 7-8 stops in between my journey for the passengers to climb and get down, at an interval of 1.2-1.5 KMS. The announcement is being made about 15 seconds before ;about the name of the next stop and on which side the doors are going to be opened cautioning the passengers to stay away from the doors.Towards the end there is an emergency exit as well, and alarm buttons clearly visible. The seats are present on both the ends and handles in between to hold.
When we get down on our destination and at the time of exit you need to drop your coin in the automated passage to exit. Well found it really organised but the steps to climb to get to the ticket counter is not that easy for the senior citizens ,because you don't find elevators working everyplace. May be that can be a reason you find most of the travelers are youth and not the very elderly. Well Steemians !!if you ever happen to visit this beautiful city of the NAWABS(hyderabad) do travel in a metro to save your time in traffic and pollution. In Hyderabadi language as the locals speak over here("METRO MEIN AAO-JAO MAZZAA AATA-means travel in a metro ..its fun), hope you guys liked my post ,have a nice weekend steemians!!!
I am surprised to see the progress in India ... good going.
