Mount Sinabung located in Karo regency of North Sumatra province, erupted again Wednesday (27/12/2017) at 15:36 pm.
According to the report of Observation Post of Mount Sinabung PVMBG, the eruption accompanied by a cloud of hot fall with a sliding distance of 3,500 meters to the Southeast - East and 4,600 meters to the South - Southeast. The wind is blowing east-southeast.
Head of BNPB Information and Public Relations Data Center, Sutopo Purwo Nugroho through his written statement to Rayapos.com, Wednesday (27/12) evening, said smoke with black volcanic ash out of the crater with moderate to strong pressure. The eruption caused volcanic ash rains in several villages around Mount Sinabung.
"Volcanic activity of Mount Sinabung is still high. Caution Status (level 4) is in effect from 2/6/2015 to the present, "Sutopo said.
As a result of the eruption, thousands of residents directly affected by volcanic ash rain.
"There were no casualties. There is no public panic seeing the eruption because almost every day Mount Sinabung erupted. "Sutopo added.
Meanwhile, areas affected by ash rain are spreading in several places such as Sukanalu Village, Tonggal Town, Central Kuta, Gamber, Berastepu, Jeraya, Iron Gate, and several other villages in the eastern sector.
PVMBG recommends the community and visitors to remain vigilant and not perform activities within a 3 km radius of the peak, and within 7 km for the South-Southeast sector, within 6 km for the Southeast-East sector, and within 4 km for the sector North - East G. Sinabung.
