To those suffering with a lack of Motivation

in #life8 years ago

I've only been on this site for a week but in my time here I've seen plenty of posts regarding the lack of ideas or drive to keep producing content. This is something I personally suffer with as well, when I can't think of something straight away I get DE-motivated.

Here's a list of ways I've found to get myself back into the groove.

1: Accomplish something

This is the First thing I do when I find myself in a slump. I write a list of small tasks which I can complete in a short amount of time. It doesn't matter what they are, just SOMETHING. Once I've accomplished these I get the urge to be more productive!
This may not work for everyone but fear not!, We still have the a whole list of things you can do.

2: Get inspired

Everyone knows that feeling of excitement when they've seen something amazing, something they wish they could do or be a part of, You need to find that feeling again.
For this I suggest you prowl the internet, there's millions of websites out there so without a doubt you'll find something you're interested in and when you do, let yourself get excited about it. Let your mind race as you imagine what can you can achieve. Personally I've been finding plenty of exciting, motivating content here on this very site!

3: Prepare

This is the point where you're excited to start working on a goal, you have ideas running around your head and you want to get started. But hold up, you need a plan. What is it you want to you achieve, what do you need to do to achieve it and how will you do it?. Get writing, all those ideas and anything else that pops into your head.

Once you've done this it's time to set a starting date on the calendar, make sure you're available and that nothing can get in the way of you starting this project because if you procrastinate once, you'll do it again and you'll wind up right at the beginning again.

4: Tell other people.... or don't

This is the point in similar posts where they would tell you to go off and tell other people your plans because it makes you more likely to go through with them. Well, not in this guide.
Keep that shit to yourself, don't tell a damn person. The reason I'm saying this is because in light of new research it apparently promotes a false sense of achievement and makes you less likely to put all the effort you can in.
So keep it to yourself and surprise everyone with what you've achieved AFTER you've done it.

5: get started

This is the point where you've got to put in work. Get started in project. Live it, breathe it and don't stop thinking about it until it's done. Try and get the best results you can. If you find yourself slipping, go back to looking for inspiration and when you get excited, jump straight back into it.
At this point you and only you* are responsible for success or failure so keep going.

6: Congratulations

You're done, you've completed a project, congratulations! if not then it's back to the drawing board, go find more inspiration and start all over again. If you did complete it then good on you, It's time for something else. With the completion of your first project you should be plenty motivated to get straight in to something else.

Hopefully this helps in some way. I'm no professional but I know how to get myself out of a rut and hopefully it'll work for you as well. thanks for ready :)
