Vertorama of a very Simple Girl

Visiting one of the most remarkable spots in Camiguin, Philippines — the Old Church Ruins, is truly an amazing experience and taking a pose is almost a compulsory.
As we were walking through the remains of of this old church, a 9-year-old girl named Mary Joy approached us, offering to take our photos. Instantly I declined since with me is my husband who is skilled in photography and besides, he knows very well my preferred angle. Unfortunately, the hubby is into his hobby of flying a drone in the scenic spot so my repeated pleas for photos were ignored. Left with no choice and with limited time, I asked the girl, Mary Joy, to take my photos to which she excitedly obliged. She then instructed me not to move while seriously aiming the phone cam at me and tilting it up and down for what she called a “panoramic shot”. At first I was wondering why she was doing what she was doing.
When she handed me back my phone for me to check, voila! Her shots were so amazing! It’s way beyond my expectation. To think, she has no smart phone but she takes shots like a pro! I guess it’s innate talent developed through the years of taking photos for tourists. So, I tagged her along to take more photos following her suggestions where to pose. Sadly, we only had limited time for each spot to visit in our itinerary plus my cute but grumpy little daughter was always following me so I only got few poses.

Anyway, if you happen to drop by the old church ruins in Bonbon, Camiguin try to look for Mary Joy and enjoy great photos by such a humble young girl. She never asked for payment for her services but I gave her a small amount out of gratitude. You too can do the same. Who knows, our little monetary help can support her needs in school or her family.
By the way, I requested a quick pose with her for our remembrance. And I hope to pose for her someday, when she’s more polished & honed to be one of the best photographers we have from very humble beginnings.
