Mawfee Beers!
Happy new year Mother Funters!!
Isn't it magnificent? The gift of another year to piss about on the internet and pretend to be all that. I fucking love it.
However, I do have a tinge of despair hanging about me this evening. I have been on holiday from work for two weeks now and it is totally coming to an end.
The woe runs high with me.
So I need something to combat this woe. Something to perk me up and make me feel alive like it was two weeks ago and the holiday was about to start.
What better to do the job than hideously strong, coffee beer!!
Raar!! Let me delay no more and introduce the first of their dark majesties!!
From the marvelous Beavertown Brewery comes this cheeky coffee based Imperial stout. Made with Caravan Coffee's Guatemalan coffee beans. Sounds flipping magic.
On a side note I found out that Beavertown is actually owned by Heineken?! Who would have thunk that?
Anyway, to taste!!
It pours black, like the blood of a black bat. I like the look of it, it's a browny black, like an owl doing a shit in the dead of the night. It looks unstoppable.
Go video man, take one for the team!
Ouch and wow. That is one bitter bitter stout. The coffee was strong, perhaps more on the instant coffee style bitterness due to the lack of any other predominant flavours to offset it.
Still, I liked it. A big dark and monstrous stout to start the night off, 7/10 booms!
Next we have more of that coffee madness. Will I ever get to sleep tonight?
12% ABV!? Hot donkeys!? What would my mother say?
This one is a variant on Fierce Beer's V.B.M range. The V.B.M being Very Big Moose. Yes, it always makes me laugh too. this is a small batch special and not their usual brew.
One off's in my experience can be blazingly good... Or just plain shit.
Here's hoping for the former!
Let's go!
This one, quite astonishingly, is blacker than the first. It's blacker than Metallica's black album which was really quite black, and let's not forget shit whilst we are at it.
Anyway I digress. My mouth is still louping from the bitter coal juice that was the last beer. Will this fare any better?
Oh Madame Mocha V.B.M. you are a silken lady in a black crushed velvet dress. May I dance with you once more!
This is great, smooth as anything. Sweet chocolate and vanilla tones jostle with a little caramel against that coffee and toasty malt roast. It's like night and day to the first which wasn't a bad one but pales against this more considered stout.
I love it, 8.5/10 booms!
What a fine pair to start the New Year with. I can only hope that it's a sign that everything is going to be just right this year!
Chin chin everyone and enjoy your weekend!
Cheers!
haha! "hideously strong, coffee beer" what more could a man ask for? especially if he gets to act like he's all that on steemit! lol. hey, I thought you WERE all that. You mean you're not? I wouldn't be tellin everybody if I were you!
Oops, sometimes I am too truthful, lol!!
You must be a real hoot pissed. A good start to the year and the other 102 beers must be shaking in their cans.
I have been known to be a tad entertaining when pissed :0D
Wow. A video. I had no idea that your voice was so commanding.
Coffee flavored beers are always a real kick in the pants.
I'll tell you the truth though, I really enjoy coffee in the morning but when I'm drinking a beer coffee isn't usually the flavor I'm looking for.
I never thought coffee would suit a beer but when I had my first good one I realised it could be done will. Unfortunately, half the time it's not!
And commanding... lol!
Well it was good to see your old mug on the vid there Boom! Well done, indeed!
It's an old and worn mug but it serves me well for the moment!! ;0)
A great start to the new year, with 102 more tests to go, are you running out of options?, will we see you having to do re-tests, just to make they are keeping the quality high?.
I don't think I will do a repeat of any I have already tried but I would never say never!!
Well, these are two types that would tempt me, being so in love with coffee. It sounds the second was much kinder to the palette, but they both sound good to me. And the former fatter, eat all the carbs me, would want to have this with ice cream as a float. American's love to float ice cream in things or melt cheese upon them, so I suppose there would have had to been cheese fries on the side with coffeebeer float as well.
Cheesy fries, oh yes not quite so sure about the beer float right enough! Wouldn't that be a strange thing!
Although now I think on it, I works give it a right good go. After all, I have tried almost everything else!!
I can only dream of it now, stupid carbs, but I have to admit it was pretty good. But, I mean, I'd eat my own arm or my grannys wig if you put ice cream on it...or cheese for that matter. And I have eat all sorts of ice cream too, one of my favourite 'odd' flavours is lobster. As I live most of the time in coastal New England, we are all about seafood. You'd think lobster in icecream would be bad, but when the ice cream is like butter it's SO good. Of course when I eat lobsters, I pick the thing and put all the bits in my little melted butter ramikan and then eat it once it's all picked; soaked and saturated in butter...great now I'm hungry.
Hehe, that truly sounds amazing, both the ice cream and the lobster in a ramekin!!
Feeling quite peckish myself now, fortunately, today I have decided to eat my own body weight in random stuff
Another awesome taste testing video! Will you ever do a showdown between your number 10's. Like a bracket or something, to pick your all time favorite?
I would be tempted to if they weren't hard to get sometimes, they often brew them in smaller batches so at times of the year they are unavailable!
Although I do have an all-time favourite, which is mexicake! A chipotle beer
Yeah that makes total sense. These ones that I was buying for root beer are like 2.29 a piece! which is pretty expensive. Like that Olde Brooklyn brand some stores back east sell them like 4 for 2.50 or something. haha Then I can get a 2 liter of Shasta Brand Root Beer for $0.88 lol. Maybe I will do a value comparison some time as well. Cheap root beer vs. expensive kind. haha mexicake eh? interesting!
Two beers you lightweight?
Back to work with ya, and let us net kings rule the roost will ya already. :-)
Haha, only two to review, the rest are on the fridge!! :0p
Get in there, commiserations regards work though.
Aye, that bit is being blotted out tonight!
As your lips were last night, so shall mine be, they are now SEALED.:-)
Hahahaha, indeed!!!
YUMMY, I love stouts, especially coffee stouts! That second one sounds divine, sweet chocolate, vanilla, caramel- winner!! Especially at 12%...haha, careful me boom!
I know! Careful indeed, I am a bit pished. I just finished a book about Lancelot and almost wopt at his death. How rawk and roll!! :0D
@meesterboom here in my province are not very common black beers, you have to look hard to get them, these look good, the last quite strong 12% alcoholic graduation, ideal for winter days.
today we have beer night in my home, hopefully they are as good as you are
I wish you a wonderful night dear friend
I hope you have a good time tonight too @jlufer! It's the weekend and the perfect time for it :0)
