Be Patient With Yourself

in #life7 years ago (edited)

Patience is a virtue that comes to those who are wise. It's not easy to acquire, but all round beneficial.

Life's experiences and maturity is teaching me to be more patient than I ever was.
When I was growing up and certain things happened at home, I would flare up in anger. My mother would gently tell me "my daughter, please be patient".

Patience with one's self could mean learning to accept the fact that things must not always go the way you planned it. This would require a period of waiting for the actualization of our plans/goals. Sometimes, this wait would be a very long one, which would make you wonder if your goals would ever be achieved. From experience, I understand that if we clarify the value of our goals, especially during the period of waiting, it would propel us to achieve them and not to give up along the way.
I think many people are impatient with themselves, because they are trying to be like someone else. Why do you compare yourself to others? Who are you in competition with?
I learnt NEVER TO COMPARE MYSELF WITH ANOTHER, a long time ago. My belief is that I am unique, have a special mission on earth to fulfill which no one else can. So, I only compare who am I today to who I was yesterday to check for progress. Practicing this all these years have brought me inner peace and tranquillity.

I believe in life we really only compete with ourselves. Others are only a reflection of some side of our being. We need to pay attention to how we react to others and life cause it says a lot about us. When we realize that , we would have truly grown and acquired some wisdom.

When I was growing up and certain things happened at home, I would flare up in anger.

I noticed that age and exposure changes people reaction to things. Do you agree that parents get soften as they become older? I mean harsh parents tend to become more mild as the become old.

I learnt NEVER TO COMPARE MYSELF WITH ANOTHER, a long time ago.

I dont as well. I do things in my own way, work in my own idea and learn from people. Surprisingly people even compare themselves on steemit.

In btw, are you going for witness? Havent seen you make a post about it.

This is Tuesday motivation. Patience everything, its unfortunate that we live in a world where everybody wants to make it overnight. I always believe that good things take time. Endure the process. Thanks for sharing

Wow! I like this Tuesday motivation, @willywealth. My experiences in life has turned me into a motivator.

...we live in a world where everybody wants to make it overnight.

Nigerians, my people, fit perfectly into this category. We jokingly call one another Russians, in the sense that they rush to want to achieve things. The earlier we learn to take things easy, especially in relation to pursuing wealth, the better for us. Like you've stated and many of us understand that 'good things take time to perfect'. Your contribution is really appreciated.

I have come to to understand that for you to succeed in the steemit blockchain you need the virtue 'patience'. Like i said in one of my post that we should learn how to do our things and stop trying to imitate others but rather learn from their success stories. Patience and consistency is the sure way up the ladder. Thank you for this great writeup @maryfavour

@eugenecr7, I'm glad that you have come to the understanding that to succeed on the steemit blockchain you need patience. Yes, people should stop being copycats. Just be yourself and look around you environment for some problems to solve. Learning from people's success stories is a wise thing to do. > > Patience and consistency is the sure way up the ladder

I like that quote. Let me buttress your point with a post I read from @gringalicious' blog. She writes and I quote

The key to success on Steemit is to be consistent and persistent - @gringalicious.

Thanks for your invaluable contribution, @eugenecr7.

Life itself is built on patience, a child can never turn to a dad just overnight! Nature must take its course with all the time and process needed, likewise it is with everything in life.

@maryfavour, this is a write up from a matured mind.

Thanks for this advice.

It is so true that life itself is an act of patience, @maxdevalue. This your school of thought has illumined my mind to add something. It is not possible for a child to move from kindergarten 1 to becoming a University graduate in 24 hours, even if he is a genius. So we have to learn, learn howbeit difficult, to patiently wait for our time. Thank you so much for the wonderful contribution.

@maryfavour, you have said it all, patient they said it a virtue, to me, patient is a sign and proof for maturity and it's a profitable attitude one should imbibe.

  • via patient, ABRAHAM was name the father of faith because he was able to wait for the LORD'S appointed time.

  • via patient, sarah's name was changed from a barren woman to a fruitful woman.

_THE LONG PATIENT OF THE LORD IS NOT ABANDONMENT' SO ESTABLISH A PATIENT MENTALITY AND WAIT FOR THE LORD IN PATIENT AND YOU SHALL NEVER BE DISAPPOINTED.

thanks for sharing madam

I love your analysis especially the fact that you use biblical terms to explain patience. I think Abraham and Sarah are complete description of patience in the bible.

Very good submission, @mike4christ. I like the quote

patient is a sign and proof for maturity

Yes, patience is a sign and proof of maturity. I only wish that many knew this. In the face of great challenges and temptations, many who go to church to hear God's word, fail woefully the test of patience to prove their spiritual maturity like Abraham & Sarah in the Bible. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

madam, it takes a practicing christian who has laid a strong foundation in the word of GOD to exercise patient in in the mist of challenges because a christian in words who doesn't have strong faith in the word of GOD will never remember to apply patient but will rather jump into action and fail wovely, but a practicing christian will made use of the tools: STOP.

S-stop
T-think
O-observe and
P-proceed.

Someone said "patience is the mother of all virtues"...I belive that. Thanks.

Hmm...I couldn't agree more, @adc2017.
Whoever is patient with himself, loves himself. The same applies to being patient with others. When you are patient with others, you love them. These are my thoughts. I appreciate your contribution.

Thanks for this wonderful motivation filled content, with patience one is bound to conquer hard times and situations. Thanks again!

I agree, @dubem-eu. Although life is beautiful, it is by no means fair. So we need to always cultivate that virtue of patience, in order to

conquer hard times.

Thanks for your support.

Patience is really a virtue. Contrary to what some people might think, patience is not an act of weakness but of inner strength.
Nice piece

...patience is not an act of weakness but of inner strength.

Wow! This is another wonderful quote on the comments thread. Thanks for your contribution, @samminator.

It's an honour

You are correct. Patience never makes mistake. Patience speaks and acts for the good and not to showcase. Patience is gift everyone ought to have. It gives hope and exhibits success

Yes, patience never make mistakes, @drigweeu. Thank you for stopping by.
