Do you continue a series after your favorite character dies

Hello, it's been a long time. Sorry for the delay. I was watching Vikings season 5 recently and that cripple called ivar is looking and behaving really tough. And that's cool. That film was good even though Ragnar died, it was quite painful but that's not the reason why I am posting this. The main reason why I am this is because I remembered Brody from Homeland.

That was indeed my favorite character in that whole series and he was hanged. I immediately stopped watching that series. I tried continuing it but I couldn't. I was like.... It's this guy that the whole series is about, if he is Dead, then what is the series now going to be about. How about you guys, how do you feel when your favorite character dies in a series. Please don't say game of thrones, I haven't even started that one.
