If friends you make when times are hard and lean
Forget not such friendships in prosper'ty
He knows not what friendship could mean
When his friend suffers dire adversity
He who in giving but to kin is keen
Knows not the ways of generosity 

 ادا صاحبت في أيام بؤس           فلا تنس المودة في الرخاء
 ومن يعدم أخاه على غناه            فما ادى الحقيقة في الأخاء
 ومن جعل السخاء لأقربيه فليس بعارف طرق السخاء
