Švihov Castle
Hello, today I would like to introduce you to the first historical monument of the Czech Republic, namely Švihov Castle.
Švihov is a Gothic water castle located in the town of Švihov in the district of Klatovy, which belongs to the national cultural monuments of the Czech Republic.
Švihov Castle was built at the end of the 15th century by the Royal Judge Půta Švihovský, who moved up skillfully in the court of King Vladislav II Jagiełło.
From the beginning, the castle was composed as an artificial island with two water ditches. These were supplied with water from the River Úhlava.
In 1973, for example, the fairy tale "Three Wishes for Cinderella" was filmed here. The central song "Where Is Your Nest, Little Bird?" was sung by Czech pop singer Karel Gott.
