TOOTHACHE *** Update

Monday the pain was devilish. But Monday night it was worse. On a scale of one to ten , ten being the worst, it was an eleven.
Got about 3 hours sleep at best. Went on line in the middle of the night to search for toothache home remedies. Taking two Advil "Ibuprofen" didn't do much.
Gargling with salt water didn't cut it. One remedy of mixing salt and pepper then adding a drop or two of water to make a paste did bring some relief. But only when I went back on line to find out how to apply it to an upper tooth. Putting the paste on a small wad of cotton then applying directly to the tooth.
Ok Tuesday finally comes for my 9 am dentist appointment. Doctor numbs me up with a shot and starts working on the tooth. after drilling to drain the infection he says he can save what is left of the tooth with a root canal. Ok I say lets do it. The only other option is to wank out the root.
Things were looking up, shot took away the pain and I was told to take the Advil noon time and before bedtime. After lunch I took a nice long nap. I was to call the dentist 8 am Wednesday morning to see what my condition was.
Tuesday night I took the Advil and slept like a baby and longer than usually. When I woke I still had discomfort in the area, was a might swollen. Doctor's office said to come back in at 9 am.
Well, dentist re-drilled the tooth to drain out any more pus. He said not much came out. But I was experiencing slight pain or discomfort from the tooth up across my left eye.
Doc wrote me out a prescription for antibiotics for 7 days. Then I was to see him next Tuesday to finish with the root canal.
Now it's Thursday morning with 3 antibiotic pills under my belt and I still have discomfort. Still swollen with slight pain over my eye and sinus headache.
This infection traveled fast so I guess I have to have patience and give time for the medicine to work.
Now I know how Rocky felt and looked after losing a fight ....

Oh gosh sorry to hear about your horrible experience I hate anything to do with tooth pain and those horrible headaches that sometimes also come with it.

Thanks for the concern @simonjay Tonight starting to feel the healing process bring down the swelling. Can't wait to get my new fake tooth. :-)
You can grow healthy teeth with Horsetail tincture, highest silica content plant, grows in wetland area's. It's what they put in shampoos etc. to help your hair grow.. Learned from a main stream nurse, who re grew bone in 5 of teeth that needed fillings. I've been taking it, and haven't gone to get my cavities filled, they feel much better and I'm testing it out... in future, rinse and swish with hydrogen peroxide, and chaparral for infection and clove oil to numb sensitive areas.
Thanks, prevention is always best best route. Once infected doctor needed. I'll look into the horsetail tincture...
I have had 2 root canals, both went really smoothly but the pain before was terrible, a good few mouthfuls of rum will help ;)

Sorry :( Unfortunately, root canal infections can travel into sinus cavities. I recommend going to see an ENT if it is possible. You may have a sinus cavity that's also in need of draining

Oh, you poor thing. I hope you fell better soon. I refuse root canals now if it is in the back. I have so many crowns and at my age, I just tell them to yank that sucker out. Take care Mike. : )
