Dear 2018 Self,

I'm sorry if I failed in building a better me last year. I failed to be better for you.

I've ruined the very first day of the year. I'm sorry I never thought of that before saying something. It never crossed my mind before doing anything.

I was afraid to embrace change before, but I'm willing to accept it this year. For you.

It's new year. Means new chances and new opportunities, not new shits.

New year, new life, new hope. Be strong. Be mature. Don't let overthinking eat you down. Don't let depression and anxiety destroy you. You are stronger than them. There are way more things to face than thinking something not worthy at all that even the tiniest detail would matter. Don't let that small thing be an issue and ruined everything. Don't be like me. You are better than me. You are bigger than them. There are a lot more to life than these.

Appreciate people.
Last 2017, I was heart broken. Betrayed. Hurt. Forgotten. But don't let that stop you to appreciate those people around you. Those who have been with you through ups and down. Don't forget people who didn't get tired listening to your endless dramas. Don't ignore people who have been patient with you ever since. Your parents who have been with you even you weren't born yet. Who are doing their best to raise and build a better you. Your siblings - most of the times - your enemies, but are with you when you needed them, especially financially and moral support. Your best friends who have been listening to your dramas over and over again but didn't get tired and annoyed. They still stick with you like you're some fragile thing. And to that guy who has been patient since day 1. That guy who loves you like you are the most beautiful thing that happened to him. Who didn't give up on you even after how many trials you've faced. There are a lot of people who love you. Appreciate them. Give thanks. You're one lucky girl who still have anyone with them.

Lastly, appreciate life.
Yes, life is unfair. Life has its funny way to keep things balance. Happy now, sad later. Life works that way. But what makes us appreciate life is the way how we see it. Don't expect things. Better be suprised than get disappointed. Think about what's happening in the present. Appreciate what's happening today. Don't think much about what could have happened tomorrow or the next or the future. Appreciate life as it is in the present. Thanking God above as you wake up in the morning is the first thing to do. Still breathing is one of life's greatest gift you'll receive each day. Just enjoy life, that's one of the things you'll never get to experience again.

Now, you're ready. God bless.

Love,
2017 Self
