Love Cycle Teaches Kids and Adults Alike How to Make Raw Vegan Cookies
Yesterday, Daniela, Awen, and Greg of Love Cycle visited Fort Bragg, where they participated in a local farmer's market. The trio was providing a hands-on workshop for kids to learn how to make their own raw vegan cookies, but adults were welcomed with open arms to give it a shot as well!
The market was relatively small and short, but the energy was very high! The locals brought their A-game, displaying an incredible array of products and treats. Everything from luscious greens, to mouth-water breads, to even delicious Ethiopian food was available to partake of.
Additionally, Jan Kessner, a local blind accordion player, provided a cheerful musical score for the whole event. She is an inspiration, maintaining her wonderful art well into her 80s, not letting her disability stand in her way!
The cookies were made by taking a coconut-covered date and rolling and kneading it in a mixture of hemp, hemp granola flax, cocoa butter, and chia seeds. These organic treats are not only healthy, but a sustainable treat that kids can make on their own!
Naturally, free cookies were popular with the younger crowd. Kids were happy to be getting something tasty to munch on, while parents were happy that they were getting something that was healthy.
Several adults came up to our stand asking what we were about. It was a great way to meet many of the locals, and they all seemed very enthusiastic about wanting to help our project.
Some of them were diabetic, who turned down the chance to make their own cookies. Daniela informed them that dates were great for diabetics because they do not raise blood sugar. Her health knowledge certainly brought smiles to many who thought sweet treats were a thing of the past.
Greg was a big hit with his juggling. Several people, adults and kids alike, came up to him to talk about his art. Greg enjoyed the attention, but enjoyed imparting wisdom to those who were particularly curious even more.
One girl in particular kept coming back to play catch and enjoy Greg's juggling. Her adorable nature made everyone's day.
In between taking pictures and helping with the cookies, Awen even took a turn at juggling!
The day was memorable for all involved! The Love Cycle team left excited, with smiles on their faces, ready to do it again. With the abundance of farmer's markets in the area, you can be certain they will be out and about again, providing that Love Cycle flair wherever they are!
