How Can I Face Xenophobia

in #life7 years ago

Hello friends! I hope you are well.

Today I will tell you a little about this topic more and more sounded, and I will share my opinion, xenophobia is defined as fear, rejection or hatred abroad. With manifestations ranging from rejection, contempt and threats, to assaults and murders.

I am an immigrant, and I will start by telling you until now that it has worked for me not to be a victim of this phenomenon, or at least to make it more bearable, although it is true that many times the rejection of the immigrant is for free, many other times we can avoid and teach more than face.

Basically it is achieved by being empathic, many of us can say that we know what empathy is, but do we really know how to put it into practice?

Empathy: is the ability to put oneself in one's shoes or situation.

It is a simple exercise, to go to another country, even for whatever reasons, it is like someone gives you accommodation for a while, when this happens we should comply with the rules of those who receive us, by not complying with those rules, we can offend, disrespect and invade a space to which we were never invited, this will cause discomfort, and being empathetic is simply knowing that if someone else comes to your country to do it, it will bother you as well.

On the other hand, how to handle the little tolerant behaviors of people who already have a preconceived concept, always give the good morning, do not confront, activate your listening to know what is really bothering you and you can understand the situation, there will be many Sometimes they will not answer you a greeting, there will be many times that they will see you wrong, there will be many times when you feel that you speak and they all point you with their eyes.

But I have no doubt that if someone confronts you, treats you badly, offends you, and keeps you balanced and educated, as long as it does not threaten your physical integrity, it is more what we end up teaching.

I am Venezuelan, none of us is in another country for pleasure, only we know, what we feel every night, the emptiness with which we live, the incredulity before the lost, the sadness for ours that are still there, some we can have feelings found by believing that they should be in solidarity with us, because if there are people with a good heart and others not so much, but do not stop being grateful to the country that is giving us an opportunity, never mind the actions of some people.

We measure the negative comments we make through social networks, in fact ask yourself before making a comment if you make any contribution, listen to a psychologist say recently in an interview, that the average visits to these specialists in some regions has decreased, he commented: social networks are the cloaca of society, people say barbarities, they are offended, they are denigrating, we are all free to express comments, to express ourselves, but in the short and long term there will be more benefits if we channel them in a positive way.

We are more than that, respect and always appreciate, and at least I am sure that we will do better.
