Trypophobia: The Grossest Phobia Ever!

in #life8 years ago

Some of you way have heard of this phobia and others may be disgusted for the first time. Or, if you are lucky, you may not find this stuff gross at all.

I personally have trypophobia really bad. It is a phobia of seeing lots of holes close together. Okay so it doesn't SOUND gross but just check this out!

Oh god, writing this blog is really difficult. Finding images is going to make me vomit. I am trying to squint. It is even worse when there are tiny balls inside of the tony holes.🤢 Are you horrified by the above imagery for some reason that you don't fully understand? Does it make your skin crawl? Feeling sick to your stomach? Yeah you may have trypophobia. For me the disgust also comes from natural things with lots of holes close together like bee hives and wasp's nests.

Why are people so afraid of tiny holes?

Well, the term "trypophobia" was only coined recently and there is no definitive answer but experts are speculating. Many believe that humans are afraid of tiny holes because we associate it with illness and disease. Reactions to tiny holes ranges from person to person some people feel disgust and others literally tremble with fear. I feel EXTREME disgust. It is so hard to deal with these photos. I sometimes feel like I may vomit if I see tiny close together holes.

Treating an irrational fear can be very difficult and there is no cure but there is behavioral therapy that can help make the person realize their fear of tiny holes is in their imagination. I might feel like I need this therapy if I lived in a world where all the walls were made of tiny holes but, as is, I think I can handle occasionally being overwhelmed with disgust when I cross near a wasp's nest, cut a garlic clove in half sideways (never again) or see a little add on a shady website designed to invoke disgust.

Oh god, excuse me while I go delete all these awful images from my PC so they don't surprise me later.

Do YOU have trypophobia?

I think this freaks everyone out!

I don't think you have to have trypophobia to be freaked out by that foot god damn

hahahahaha True I would say you have it if the bee hive and the um whatever that other natural thing is? freaks you out. :)

dried lotus pod!

cool post.. i have a cockroach fobia. though im an all animal lover, have had snakes, giant beetles, lizards, etc. as pets but i hate cockroaches. i dont know the reason why..lol

The first two are disturbing because they appear on a human... the 3rd and the 4th don't have any effect on me lol

I totally agree. I don't like bees. I don't like looking at bee hives above doorway etc. I don't like those pictures either. Blah..

Shudder! I never noticed that this bothered me so much but those pictures were seriously disgusting/disturbing! Learned something new today! Ha!

Ugggghhh I remember the first time I learned about those frogs who have their eggs basically laid into their backs... gag omg. Yeah. Gotta go.

WHAT WHAT??? THAT'S A THING?! NO NO NO NO NO

Yeah, sorry I ruined your life. That's probably what did it for me.

I am going to TRY not to look it up but I have a real problem with curiosity. D:

I'd look it up. But might look away once they start HATCHING.

Frogs are cool pets.. i had one. i know what ur talking about, but hey! human mamas carry babies in their stomach for 9 months too. ;) Nature is cool..

I never had a frog as a pet, but I've picked quite a few up in the wild. However, the one I'm talking about... I would probably run away from!

And the last part... precisely why no kid is coming out of me! Hahaha

hahaha.. u got to work hard for it and go through a sweaty night.. ;)

Did you succumb?

I also have trypophobia. Couldn't even look at these pics.
For a long time I even didn't know how to define that feeling of disgust toward tiny holes. 2 years ago I learned there is a special phobia and fear of holes. I found FB group where people suffer from trypophobia share their experiences.
There are some explanations that trypophobia is associated with danger, i.e. you never know what is those FREAKING holes.

:'( The disease theory also makes sense. Whatever it is ughhhhhhhhhhhhh.

They can be pretty freaky. Lol. I have to say.

Uuuuuugh the holes....so close together... 🤢
