How creative you are?
In my previous post I was mentioned about Twitter investigation case, and we should go in detail about it.
Ones a time group of unknown people harmed two homosexual people. Police tried to find them, but it all were in vain.
Then, Police publish information about crime and video online, and ask crowd to help.
In a short period of time, some user posted picture of suspects from the restaurant. Then, another activist asked help to identify this place.
After location was identified, users of Twitter try to identify all users, who checked-in this restaurant on Facebook, and that is how they found out suspects.
This simple case shows us two basic things about crowdsourcing of investigations:
1. The biggest group of people you ask to help, the more information you will get. Just like in case with photo of suspects from restaurant.
2. Big group of people always more creative (at least you have more chances to find person, who have idea how to identify persons by check-in marks)
Such cases inspires me and our team to open all potential of crowdsource investigations.
Just imagine, when you will be able to solve high level corruption crime by posting one or two photo, or by checking Instagram page of the restaurant. On the same time another user will analyze this information, and someone qualified it. In a small period of time you will have full picture of crime, with valid evidences, and prepared criminal qualification. Police only should come to suspect, read him his rights, and then arrest. And even more interesting, that high social interest help to monitor all judicial proceedings and get fair court decision.
And this is not a dream, we are workin on it! Very soon we will create such platform!
