Our family is poor, but we don’t trust

Dai Hanshun hit a man on an electric tricycle two years ago at the foot of the mountain. The poor couple insisted on paying 40,000 yuan in compensation by selling reed leaves. Dai Hanshun's wife Zhu Dongjuan went down the mountain once every time she saved enough money and sent it to Ningxi Court of Huangyan Court in Taizhou, Zhejiang.

In the natural village under Baishi Village, Yutou Township, huangyan district. There are only 11 left-behind elderly people. Local people say, " there are more dogs than people in the village."
This is a place where satellite maps are not located. It was raining and the fog in the mountains was getting heavier and heavier, with visibility less than 5 meters. The SUV crawled carefully on the winding mountain road between the bamboo forest and the cliff.The car stopped at the end of the road. We walked on the mud road for 10 minutes with our umbrellas.
Zhu Dongjuan, 66, with short hair and medium build, dressed in a coarse blue gown, greeted us at the door. When I stood in front of Zhu Dongjuan, she no longer owed anyone money.

She placed four chairs in a semicircle at the door of her home, with a simple heater in the middle-an iron basin with a charcoal fire burning inside. With the rising temperature, the smell of smoky fire sticks to people's hair and clothes.
Zhu Dongjuan showed me around her home. Stone wall, wood roof. The wooden pillars supporting the house were moldy. Zhu Dongjuan wielded a sickle and gouged it out. The inside had rotted away like a yellow sponge.
Three 6-watt bulbs and an old refrigerator are all " household appliances". Zhu Dongjuan will turn off the light shortly after it is turned on, leaving only the light beam from our mobile phone.

Zhu Dongjuan walks slowly. Her left foot is a little lame due to gout, and the wet and cold environment on the mountain makes her joints ache on cloudy days.
Twelve years ago, she suffered from heart disease. Now she takes six or seven kinds of medicine every day. When she is tired or emotional, she has chest tightness and dizziness. She covered her chest, slowly sat down and took a pill to " give it a rest."
Her 68-year-old husband Dai Hanshun is working odd jobs all year round. Accompanying her at home were two yellow dogs and a dozen chickens. On the flat ground outside the house was piled a small stand of radish, which was the " dog food" for the two dogs. Zhu Dongjuan scattered the chickens to the mountain fields and followed them to forage. Then boil some radish, sprinkle salt and feed it to the dog.
The living conditions of children are not good either. The daughter married a poorer village and lived her own life. The son built a house under the mountain, and he ran a taxi to pay off the arrears and saved four people.This family is too poor.
The 70-year-old couple began to pay their debts, and Dai Hanshun followed the villagers out to work.
Zhu Dongjuan is working at home without stopping. She shuttled through the bamboo forest on the mountain, waving a sickle and harvesting bamboo rafts and eucalyptus leaves. It is a plant that can be seen everywhere on the mountain and grows luxuriantly. It is also an important source of income for the family.
Some people listened to the Dai family's story and came to visit, while others wanted to donate some money to them.
Both the old couple and their son refused the donation in their own name. " We can't accept their money. It's all their hard money. We can't take it. They are poorer than me." Zhu Dongjuan spoke very fast, wagging his hand.
Zhu Dongjuan did not feel that the days were bitter, nor did he feel that he was pitiful. This is just a day when all generations are the same and solid.The people on this mountain are just like the bamboos on the mountain. No matter what the external environment is, they will continue to multiply generation after generation.
